Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

Buddy, I totally understand. I had a Blue Spot Toby that I had for 4 years, and I had to say goodbye. That little guy would eat from my hands (bite) for the entire time I had him...

Since this is a nano tank owners thread,
Does anyone know of algae eating fish that will thrive in a 16g? I'm noticing a possible outbreak and I want to nip it in the bud ASAP.

Foam Padding

Foam Padding

Guys, how important is this "Foam Pad" underneath or tanks. My sons Fusion 40 is missing a small piece near the back corner of the tank. Will this pose a problem? I.M. sent me a piece of replacement foam but it seems a lot thicker than what is already underneath the Fusion 40.

The foam pads are beneficial for rimless aquariums such as the Fusion 40 because it relieves pressure points on the bottom of the aquarium.

Innovative marine refugium light

Innovative marine refugium light

How do you like the Innovative Marine refugium light? What chamber on a Nuvo 16 are you turning into a refugium?

Thanks

New IM 40 owner. Started it up a few weeks ago to replace the 12g nano.
Current equipment list:
JBJ 54 unibody soon to be replaced with RR led
MP10wes
Ghost skimmer
Apex w wxm etc
Stock circ pump
150w heater

Live stock from the nano:
OC, cardinal fish, skunk shrimp, harlequin shrimp, peppermint shrimp.

Just breaking in the skimmer. I like my water level a bit higher so I'm futzing with the skimmer depth.
Also just ordered the upgrade media baskets. Don't know why they are not offered as an upgrade to stock!
Love the look of this tank.
More later.

So, reading back through this thread, I see that correct water level is so you can see each individual chamber in sump. This may help with my skimmer adjustments.it seems low to me though. When I just did this my return flares are barely covered with water. Is this correct?

That is probably going to be a negative. Might down a pump size

I also finally have the ghost skimmer dialed in. Like the job it does and looking good hidden in the back

Did you have the old style skimmer before the ghost? If so do you think it's any quieter?

I didn't have a skimmer before on this set up, but older set ups I did have skimmers. It is a little loud, but I feel it's getting quieter as time goes on.

I like the job it does and clean set up

I just replaced my stock IM 38 pump with a Sicce Syncra silent 1.5. Half the noise and a lot more water moving than before, and I have a back-up now if anything goes wrong.
If you are looking to upgrade your pump I highly recommend this strong little pump!

Good call. I upgrade my pump on my fusion 40 with the eheim 2000+. I am pleased with how the tank is coming along. I need to get some pics up!

Yes, that is correct. I have more flow going through my return so the tops of my return flares are out if the water

Cool. Thanks. I pulled a gallon or so out last night to get the level down. It did help with the skimmer for sure. I'll think about a more powerful main pump as the next upgrade once my new leds and media baskets are here. I did that with my nano too. World of difference! The stock pump isn't too shabby, but I think 30 or 40% more flow won't hurt!

I increased with about 15% more with the eheim which I like. I also have the mp10esw which gives the tank a lot of follow.

If you haven't upgraded the lights yet, go with radions. I love them

Have the mp10wes as well. I looked at radions, kessil, etc. Decided to go with the Reef Radience lumentech instead. They just are shipping with apex connectivity any day now. Current led is a jbj unibody. Not thrilled with it at all, though some people love them. I'll be happy to sell it to one of those people ASAP. :)

IM NUVO 16G - super slim (no fan) LED?

IM NUVO 16G - super slim (no fan) LED?

Hello everyone!
I have been looking around for the perfect LED fixture. It seems I cant find something interesting and the few I found are either ULTRA expensive or lack buying options (size etc).

I have the stock IM Nuvo 16g 8w SKYYE clams which look very very cool over my tank. I bought a Kessil a150 which I returned mainly because it was noisy. Now Im looking into a LED fixture hopefully similar to the IM 8w SKYYE clams but more powerful.

What I have found is ELOS e-lite S3, Lani-Led (which in my opinion is the best looking fixture by far) and lastly aquaPAD.

Do you guys have any other suggestions?

There are so many out there to choose from. Have you looked at the razor? That's a cool looking fixture..Most fixtures I've looked at are not very stylish so it's completely subjective to you. Also consider what you are keeping in the tank with regard to power.
I just went through this exercise myself and decided that color and output trumped style. (Along with price)
