Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

Hi everyone!

Glad to be a member of the IM community :wavehand: However, after viewing some of the pictures of the broken aquariums, I'm a little afraid.

It has been up for about 2 weeks.

So, I have the sr-120 stocked with the norms and I added:

3 vegas and a controller (love it)
Modified rails for the lights
60 # dry rock (now covered with brown algae and diatoms)
80 # live sand
Full size ghost skimmer
mini media reactor (with carbon)
2 socks
2 media baskets (with filter sheets)
Titanium heater (laying flat in the back)

I love this system. It is so easy to set-up and maintenance everything!

I am having some trouble with micro bubbles. I was looking through the thread, but it is lengthy and hoped someone might be able to help me.

If anyone sees something that I might improve, please let me know!

Thanks for your help!

Two things I saw that cause micro bubbles. One, the fittings between the sump and tank can suck air, and two, the ghost breaking in.
The ghost will stop once it builds a slime coat. The sump fitting can simply be twisted tight or a layer of teflon tape could seal it.
Good luck. Thats a nice tank. Wish I had room for it!

Thank you for your answer. I am not sure what fittings between the sump and tank you are referring to.

where the main pumps goes 90 degrees into the display wall, its a press fit fitting. that can loosen and suck air causing MB. Especially at the top where its not under water.

I turned the skimmer off to see if that would make a difference. I will wait and see

Finally cycling !

Cool. I guess the light depends on what you plan on keeping in it
If its cheeto and pods.. not much is needed.
Good luck.its going to be a tight fit in there!
Actually gracilaria and pods. Gracilaria grows faster that chaeto, is beautifully red, branched, and is edible by fish. It runs circles around chaeto so I don't know why more people aren't using it.

I want to take the Y out and put a T in and move the pump over so I can have room for this refugium:

The small citr pro should be able to hang in the back. I don't know what light to use for it, any ideas?

Does anyone think this light would work for a refugium? I would have to remove the black wallpaper/backing from the back of the tank for it to shine through. Has anyone removed some of this paper?
