Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

How much does the stock pump put out and how much does the sicce? The flow from the back chamber pump can be a problem because it's all on the top. You want flow all over.

Yes a 9004 in the first chamber on the right side.

Thanks for the answer cherubfish pair.

I'm mostly looking for quieter rather than higher GPH return pumps for both the 16 and 30L. and I have Sicce "silent" pumps that have higher flow rates that the stock.

The 30L has a pair of Mp10s and in the 16, I'm going to try the Tunze 6020 (660 GPH)
powerhead.

I'm going to do a build thread soon so maybe you can give more advice there.

Thanks again.

So I think I figured how to prevent the Nuvo 16/24 cracking issue. I had 2 Nuvo 16's one first gen one second. I used the Nuvo second gen as my test subject thinking it was stronger built. Anyway it comes dow to the level of the tank. I kept the tank on a aquarium stand made for the weight and then some. Leveled out the tank perfectly. Waited 1 month. Nothing. Although I have read of this cracking being level and did notice the bottom of the pedestal its sits on was sagging and the front glass was bowing outwards 5mm. (Using straight edge on inside of glass length. Also the false wall and rear glass can be "wiggled forward and backward around 5-6mm in both directions. Next test was leveling the tank so the weight of the water was pressing on the front of the glass. The glass bowed to 6mm this way (scary) and I left it for a month. Nothing. Leveled it so weight is still pushing twards front but opposite of my mp10, cranked mp10 to max and left for a month. Nothing. I did notice the it did relieve the pressure off the rear and the glass was straight as an arrow as well as the false wall. (Mind you I did put 20lbs of substrate and 15lbs of lr, no fish for these tests from day 1). Moving on, last test. Put the weight towards the rear. All these tests; I use a bullet level and the bubble is still center just favoring one side more than the other and still makes glass bend as the results stated above. So it's not like The tank is way off level just enough to favor one direction. Anyway weight is pushing rear. Front glass straightened out. Rear bowing 6mm and can wiggle both rear and false wall together. (Very scary). That night it blew out 5am, about 11hrs later. From the front left (opposite the mp10) front bottom of glass up around bend to the top left of tank. Pressure towards rear caused front to crack! Now setting up my gen 1. I have my tank and stand up agnist my living room wall. I favored leveling the tank so the water is pushing towards the rear. This gets rid of the front bowing. I leveled it from side to side on point. Now I was left wit the rear bow. I used foam incerts to push from the wall to the tank gently to remove the bow. Now everything is straight. Front sides and rear/ false wall are all tight with the lid. This gen1 has been up and running for 2 years. I recently took it down, did a full clean and reinstalled. Going on month 2 now almost getting rid of diatoms and cycling. I will post some pics of the clean setup with pics of glass/ foam inserts. What are ur guys thoughs on all this for those interested in the cracking issue with the im bent glass?

I didn't take pics of the tests because i was not a member of any forums. It was jus for me. Now that i took the tank down and re did it I thought I'd join since I'm a long time reader. And post my findings. As you can see the glass is straight front and back with the water weight pushing twards the rear. I also noticed the front pedestal doesn't sag anymore. I think if anyone who has a Nuvo 16/24 even anyone with bent Nuvo glass, should put their lid on or use a straight edge and see if ur glass is bowing. I would make the adjustments favoring the rear of the tank and figure out a way to support the rear. Also if you take a small led (ur phone one) shine it from underneath the glass so the light is shining in the glass you can look from the top down into the glass and see stress cracks and also surface scratches.
Example one side of glass | light | other side of same panel of glass, shine light center of pane of glass n look thru from above.

do you know which model would work best? i was looking at the maxi-jets and the model 1200 only has about 295 GPH where as the standard pump has 476 GPH.

just trying to find one that would fit in the back chamber.

I run the Maxi-jet model 1200 on my NUVO 16, I would def go bigger for the NUVO 24

^^^^ Not a Eco Tech owner but I have heard that you should mount the wire to the side of the tank so it will not wall to the ground.

^^^^^^^^yup read a thread not to long ago where a guy didn't have the wire zip tied to the provided anchors and his mp40 fell into his ato container.

I had mine fall off at 4am when a snail crawled in the wet side. It was zip tied up the next day..
It hit the hardwood floor but no damage was sustained other than loss of sleep. The snail lived. His shell wasn't even dented,,I guess he was lucky I have them running slow all night..

I've been mostly out of the hobby for a few years. Recently purchased an IM 30.

IM 30 tank
IM stand
IM midsize skimmer
IM pump with spin stream
Koralia 425
IM 20w Dimmable Dual LED
CPR Refugium w/ light

Rock came from my previous 90.
Live sand

Tank has been cycling for a few weeks now. Planned upgrades include an ATO (thinking Hydor Smart Level) and the Hydor Wave maker with another Koralia 425. A new Cobalt NeoTherm heater is already on the way. Long term upgrades include better lighting and possibly an APEX controller.

I just ordered the inTank media baskets and fugue basket for my IM38 but was also looking into a media reactor to help control my phosphate issues. Does anyone know if the Two little fishies 150 reactor will work in the fuge column of the 38g or should I just go with the IM media reactor. I would not want to mount the TLF 150 reactor outside the tank just incase it sprang a leak and started pumping water overboard.

Sound like you answer your own question. IM media reactor it is.

Seems like this thread needs a bump... I have a question for anyone who has the new Ghost skimmer from IM, I was wondering how the self draining thing works and if you can use the "drain" to actually drain it out of the tank, it looks like from the videos its just to prevent it from overflowing onto the back wall and stuff vs allowing a tube to go into a container or something of the sort

Yea. Without mod it's got to just drain into sump. It's too tight of a bend to drain outside. I thought about it, but only empty and clean the cup every couple of days. Rarely gets close to overflowing.

I have the ghost and do use it. The drain comes plugged, I really don't see the point of the drain. The collection cup is a good size for the skimmer. If you set up the drain you have to get tubing to run it to somewhere else. IMO if you dump every week you will be fine
