Official: Masterflex Calcium Reactor Setup Thread

Ok good. Thank you. That will also use the aforementioned tubing correct?

Yep. I use the Pharmed LS17 tubing in mine. It's lasts several months or more and I run at about 65ml/min for my Geo 818 on a 700 gallon system. And glad to help.

Ok I found a couple on Ebay. Thanks again and I'll post back when I
I'm able to get one.

I found the suggested head unit on ebay and purchased the correct tubing. Wow, that tubing is really different from what I had. So I got it all set up and seems to be running well. The pH in the reactor is dead on with very little fluctuations. I had to switch out the co2 tank the next day so I'm futzing with the pressure and bubble count now.
But wow! What I difference!

Thanks! Yes I have the co2 solenoid plugged into my EB8 currently.

I also use an Apex. Hope you have the program for the CO2 just set to shut off if ph drops below about 6.35 and not programing a range.

Hmm ok. Yea right now I have a range of 6.73 to 6.75 programmed in but I'll change it to just shut off then.

When you do that the ph will probably drop to a certain level and than remain constant. You than either adjust the CO2 bubble count or PSI to get it to the ph level you want to maintain the dKH level in your tank that you want.
My program is:
Set OFF
Fallback OFF
If Output CAREACON = ON Then ON
If RXph < 6.35 Then OFF

CAREACON is a virtual outlet I use to control my masterflex pump and co2 regulator.
Set ON
If Output Leak_detect = ON Then OFF

Here is my PH over the last hour.

What is the purpose of a virtual outlet? The VO controls 2 things at once?

Yup, shuts down the mixing pump, flow pump and co2 reactor. I use it as a way to shut down the system all at one time if, in the rare event, the dKH gets too high and I want to bring it down or as the program show if one of the leak detectors activates.

I have several virtual outlets.

interesting...I have VOs but I generally use them for the power heads and night flow versus day flow. Guess I have some homework to do tonight!

I generally use them for controlling mutiple functions or units. MHCNTL as an example is where I program the on off light cycle so when I change the time I can do it in one place, not three.

I'm a bit space constrained and can't easily fit one of the large masterflex models. I'm looking at one of the Miniflex models isntead -- HV-07525-40, but can't find any posts of anyone else using one. Any reason this wouldn't be a good option for a 130G SPS? It's only 300 RPM instead of the 600 RPM recommended earlier here, and doesn't take LS 17, would have to use LS 16 or 25 instead.

Looks like a cool little pump. I am sure it would work just fine.
