Calloo! Callay!

My very own clownfish are spawning! Not just a measley little nest, but a great big nest!

I am so excited!

Not wise to try and raise the first few nests. Usually they need some practice to get good healthy eggs that will survive. But until you have that first nest, you got nothing.

I now have a something.

I guess it is OK, now, for my friend, whose spawning clownfish have been my source of eggs so far, to move this summer as he has planned. He'll be relieved to know that....

Pix later.

Cheers,
Kathy

Congratulations!!!

Mine took 5 years before they did, but I wasn't going through gyrations to get them to, either. Blind dumb luck in my case.

Are they laying eggs on rock or somthing removable? I'm curious because mine are laying on rock and I haven't wanted to jinx my dumb luck (nor upset the male) by trying a removable object, but I haven't had good yields yet (20-30 each time) and don't know if that's a result of having to scoop them out of my 90g or if my parents are lacking nutrition (I'm working on that).

Thanks Dman and Kathy,
They are spawning on the piece of Tongan branch which is under about 50 pounds of other live rock. I cannot remove it.

I may try, soon, to place a tile firmly in front of the branch, and see if they will spawn on it.

About 2 weeks ago they did a dry run on the nearby glass wall of the tank. I was hoping they would stay there, because it would be easy to cover the spot with tile. But hey, I'm happy there are eggs this time!

Hmmm, it seems we now have two Kathys and two Nicoles in the breeding forum lately. Good luck you all, keeping us straight!

Nice to meet ya, Kathy! NicoleC is also a software person!

Cheers,
Kathy

That IS good news Kathy! I'm very happy for you, after that last post, I figured it wouldn't be long. Congrats!
