Oh my, look what I've got comming!

Needless to say I'm very excited about this one! :)
Sold as a BTA, but I'm thinking this is a crispa or malu. I get the clowns with it too!

At one of my LFS they have a pair of pink skunks, in a yellow anenome similar looking to that. Beautiful combination.

Thanks guys. Its coming from Rommel at ultimatereefs.com. Great guy, incredible corals!
Am I right that this may be a crispa or malu? It doesn't look like my BTA's at all.

Think it could be a magnifica?
Oooo, that would be exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Certainly very nice if I could keep it healthy! I'd love a magnifica that looked like this but their difficulty scares me though.
I know I can keep BTAs and most likely H. crispa's happy and healthy, but I've already lost one magnifica and would hate to lose another.
The verracae are what make me believe that this is not a BTA. Any other guesses?

Most likely H. crispa, but not throwing out the chance of it being a malu. Definitely not a magnifica or bta.

I can't believe no one has mentioned that it is dyed. It is H. crispa, but even when the tentacles are colored the column and base should still be whitish.

The bright hot pink oral disk and column with faded tentacles are the tell tale signs of a dye job. The fact that they also have a yellow one makes it even more obvious. (edit- the yellow one is not from the same LFS, I just re-read, but it is likely dyed as well)

Sorry, I haven't seen any like that for many years, but it is absolutely dyed.

You know, I never gave that a thought since it wasn't such a totally super bright pink color that is so obvious with some soft corals. If its true, I'll be very depressed. I thought I actually found a pink malu/crispa! I've seen them on Liveaquaria but never in time to get one.
I'll have to ask Rommel about it. If it is dyed, then I'll cancel my order. I certainly don't want to foster the trade or selling of any dyed animals.

A natural purple H. crispa still has a white oral disk and column. The purple goes from the tip down, not from the base up. I think if you saw it in person it would be the same pink as in the dyed soft corals. I don't like being the bearer of bad news.:(
Here is a pic of a naturally purple H. crispa. Although not the most beautiful I have ever see, notice the white underside of the oral disk.

Thanks Phil. I've emailed Rommel to ask about the anemone's coloration and where it came from. I'm sure he'll be upfront with me. He had 3 of these and I got the last one. I can always turn it down.

I just received an email from the seller. He says he doesn't "have any experience with dyed or bleached anemones", not really a definative 'yes' or 'no' so I've asked for a little more clarification. He's willing to hold onto the anemone for me for as long as needed to check it out.

Honestly, i have never seen Phender be absolutely sure about something and be wrong about it. I would cancel the order if i was you. Especially since the owner can't even give you anymore information about it. I didn't even think about it before as being dyed because i have never had experience with any dyed anemone's in person, but, after seeing this i decided to read up and research some and it does look like a typical dye job of an anemone. Except for its not yellow.
