Oh my, look what I've got comming!

Yes it is dyed. You can still buy the anemone. Its not a gauranteed thing that it will die necissarily. Its also coming with two sweet clownfish that aren't died. :D

Your call. I would still buy it but thats just me.

I don't thing the anemone is an aurora, malu, crispa or doreensis. It is not one of the carpets or a pizza, so it can only be a H. magnifica or an E. quadricolor (if it is a clownfish hosting anemone).
It is most likely an H. magnifica. The column looks right, including the color. Some of the tentacle also split, the color tip, and the Pink Skunk Clowns hosted in it. All of this point to H. magnifica.
It certainly does not look like a healthy H. magnifica, but very colorful. I don't think that it is dyed. I hope you will be able to nurse him back to healthy. If I were you, I would treat him as a H. magnifica.
Good luck.

Hmm, so many experienced nem keepers here and so many different opinions on what it is and wether or not its actually dyed. My first impression was crispa based on the shape of the tentacles and the small speck of coloration at the tip along with the distribution of tentacles.
I don't think its a magnifica.
I guess the only way to tell is to buy it and find out. Its $75 with the clowns, so I'll take the risk.
Wish me luck! I'll post some new pics of my own once I get it.
Thanks again all for the opinions and suggestions.

Yep, the clowns are coming with it. I didn't really want them, but Rommel says they are making the nem their home and he was hoping they could go as a package.

I hope you're not disappointed with the nem. If it is dyed you may end up with a beige/brown nem in the end. From the pictures and types of nems you've been looking at, and from seeing your tank in person, you seem to be going for color (and doing a great job at it!), you may not get that if the nem survives.

I'm definately no expert, but it does look like a crispa to me (have one), and it does look dyed, especially with the picture comparision provided by phender (thanks by the way!).

I would be worried too because some of those tentacles look very stubby, almost like beads. It makes sense though if the nem is dyed. I would be more worried about the physical condition the nem is in at this point, and if it would survive shipping, even healthy ones get very stressed during shipment.

Just my 2 cents, don't want to cause problems or rain on your parade. But don't want to see you disappointed either, especially since you didn't really want the clowns, you may not end up with anything that you want.

Good luck!

Well, I went ahead and ordered it. According to Rommel, the anemone looks healthy and he doesn't think its dyed. I'll risk it on this one for $50. I'm getting 3 nice unusual maxima clams and a few other LE green polyp softy frags from him, so the anemone is along for the ride.
I can always trade off the clownfish locally too if they cause any problems with my existing clowns.
Thanks again for all the input guys.
The package is due Wednesday and I'll post some pics then.

Well, thanks to DHL's brilliance, the package was lost and not delivered until this morning, over 48 hours late! The anemone was a big glob of jelly in a bag of brown foul water. I do expect that it was dyed as there was a tinge of pink coloration to the water along with the brown.

that sucks, did the clowns die?

I feel for your losses. I lost a large blue S. Haddoni to holiday shipping disaster two years ago.
How is your red one doing?

I actually just sold my large red haddoni. It was getting too big, around 14" or so and I was afraid it would eat my baby regal angel or my Watanabe male. Plus, I was getting nervous that with my recent luck, something would happen to it and I'd feel horrible. It went to an experienced hobbyst who currently has a 4 year old blue and 2 year old green carpets already, so its in good hands.
I'm looking to replace it with a much smaller one and maybe a small blue gigantea if I can find a healthy one.

That stinks! What do you do in a situation like that? Does the shipper assume some responsibility?
Again, that's just terrible, I'm sorry for your loss, and the frustration it's causing!

Good luck on your future purchases!

No refunds, but I will be getting store credit. The bad part is Ultimatefrags.com will be closed the entire month of December and the first week of January. I'll be waiting a long time for my credit :(
