That could work I guess although I am not sure about keeping it water tight as Marc suggests. Aquaticeco does have SW pressure gauges too. I wonder what pressure level would be OK and what would signal a problem?

I'm sure there is a formula or a rule of thumb. You could ask James at Envisions or Brent from Barr Aquatics perhaps.

My guess would be around 20 psi or less. Preferrably around 12 psi. The Phosban Reactors can't handle even that, running more around 6psi or something.

I think it would be easier to use a standing water column. I.e. take a clear piece of tubing and from that section have it go vertically up the wall for 6-7 feet. Mark on the wall the liquid height where everything seems to be working right and maintain that pressure. The added side benefit is that if the pressure exceeds the vertical height of the tubing, the pressure is relieved because the water can simply overflow through that tube and into a convenient location.

Very good idea and gives me something more to build! :D I have actually been thinking about building a site glass for my RO/DI reservoir as well.

I appreciate all the inut guys. I never really considered operating pressure when I designed this reactor just because I am allowing the water flow to bleed off in the first chamber and if the pressure gets high I can see it spraying forcefully from the effluent outlet.

Good news is I finished the basket for the RowaPhos chamber. I'll take a couple of pics before I assemble the reactor.

So you fixed the crack? i hope you took pictures of that process! gives us newbees idaes of how to fix our ooops!
baaaaa, so i ended up opening my weldon 3....i never had time to run down to kent. to get the weldon4 welll my first two glues on my used over flow looked like poohpooh, but the lasty one has a lot less bubbles seems to bonded really well. putting the back on tonight i hope, if the hunny do list is not to big when i get home.
Any how sorry for snaging you thread, going to have to start my own.

All I did was infuse the crack with Weld-On 4 and clamp it. It may not hold, and if not, I will do one of my beautiful patch jobs on the outside of the unit.

Don't worry about chatting in this thread. I really don't care. That's what threads are for IMO!

No. Haven't gotten around to it yet...I will but I have been so busy I can't get it together. Thanks for reminding me though! :)

That is what i forgot to make you show me when i was there! Your Work Shop or Horrer. well done on the Baskets they look neet!

so far so good but my probe turned out to be defective so it is essentially a "cork" until I can get the new probe. Otherwise it seems to be doing the job. My effluent tests reveal that it is working, but I have not gotten it to be where I think it should be. In fact I would love to get advice from more experienced reefers as to what the effluent should test out at for Ca, alk, etc.

I am still working on the baskets and I have one stubborn but extremely small leak. I can't get Weld-On 4 to go into the leak for some reason and I missed it slightly when I gued on a patch on Friday...

Went to a PSAS meeting tonight. Started with pizza and moved to the Bellevue CC for a talk by Scott Michael. He was a fun speaker although I don't think he can be trusted...every fish he showed was his "favorite fish". He has tremendous enthusiasm about fish and in particular I like the way he is keenly interested in fish behaviors.

He focused mostly on Nano-reef compatible fish and it was interesting, plus the obligatory shots of frog fish.

There were a few notable reefers there including Steve Weast, there was a frag raffle, and one guy giving away bags of chaeto at the door. HEAVEN

So I had a marine biologist buddy over a couple days ago and he is sending pictures of the JAT out to colleagues. While we were shooting the breeze, the lights went out and we got quite a show. He was quite interested in the colored cucumber and while we were watching it eat, low and behold, a sea hare cruised by!

I had assumed that when the one died that the other one had too because of some incompatibility with the water. Now I know why the macro is all gone in the display! It has really taken down the grape caulerpa.

Electrical question: I picked up a grounding probe but now wonder where I should install it. Should it go in the display, or in the sump? Anyone have a theory on that?
