why aren't you in bed? you are a sick man Marc! :D :D

See how close that PLTA has moved to the clam and hammer? Do you think I should intervene?

I did the white balance off the sand and it work better. The pics aren't too great but I am looking into a new camera. I have an employee that is a professional photographer who is gong to advise me (along with your advice) on what body to go to etc. I bought a nice SLR just before the digital boom and got kind of screwed. I may go with Cannon or Nikon but we will see what he says after visiting the reef.

I think nearly Dr. Plankis' idea

Boy, that really depends on your definition of nearly. If you think nearly means in the next 4 years, then yes, I'm NEARLY done :D

I'd let it go.... It might still travel in the next few days. The clam will be fine.

hey Hopster! How is your system dooing?

Um... Don't ask right now:) Life has been bumpy and the tank is on a zero maintenance schedule... I was going to update the thread and explain briefly what was going on as I've got a couple PMs asking what happened... It's still going, just on auto pilot:(

Well hang in there...we always have bumps in the road. It's those who use the bumps to get air that make a good landing! :D In your business there is always something to push you back, and I would guess that a nice reef, although it's a lot of work, can reward you for your efforts. What's going on with my store right now is indescribable, so I can relate!

I believe Alfonso is right about the hammer. I have a friend that has a RBTA living on the side of a Gigas clam. Neither one seems to mind.

Yeah, I had a GBTA all over a clam that didn't seem to mind, but I moved it when the anemone was blocking the clam's light for too long.

PLTA movement, day 2:

Had to move the hammer as it was being stung, and as I figured, the PLTA has moved right over the clam. I won't panic yet but if it is still there on Sunday, I will try to move the clam.

thanks. just got home after 2 days away and it still looks great so I am hoping that means I have avoiding acclimation shock.

Thanks! It's doing quite well so far and seems to be OK with the clam for now.

I spent some time yesterday fighting with the female maroon over some corals. She has gone back to attacking them. If you look back to page 34 you see an encrusting monti...it is a close up shot so you can't see how large that rock is, but it measures about 11 x 7 x 1.25" and appears to be Puget Sound rock so it is quite a heavy piece. That damn maroon actually tossed that rock high enough to flip it entirely over twice. It now seems that she really dislikes various forms of montis but has left other corals alone.

So yesterday I caught her going after another coral, a yellow acro of some kind. I would replace it and then she would agressively get her nose under it and flip it away from her "area". I would then move it to a better place without prior written consent from her, and she would toss it again.

It got to the point that I was actually getting really mad at her and chased her with my grabbers. She is quite unafraid of me and more than willing to do battle with the grabbers. I had some choice words for her and screamed that if she didn't quite "F"ing with my corals I am going to kill her and eat her. It appears that she really doesn't give a crap how she goes down and that she is willing to take me and the tank with her.

That is really funny! Every coral in my tank is glued down with either supergllue or epoxy. If I ever have to move them, I'll have to break them off at the base I guess. Whatever I have sitting on the sand bed eventually gets flipped over by my Elegant Coris Wrasse unless it is a really big rock...

ROFLMFAO! Jonathan.... i Can see this ...... i can see her behind your Back, Saying "bring It b@#$&". We need a Video Of this going on......You'd get an Shrammy! BAAAAHAAAHAA:rollface:

I wish I could get a video but I don't really have good enough technology. I will try to get one in the next few days with my digital camera. I just had to move an acro out of her "area" because I am getting tired of her bashing it. The problem with gluing them down is that she breaks off fingers then. She snapped of 5 branches of the digitata before I finally moved it away.

Purple LTA decided to move about 7 feet across the front of the tank. It seems slightly stressed too. Not sure what's up. In order for it to get to that spot, it had to rub tentacles with a GBTA. I wonder if they fight each other?

That Purple Lta, looks so Sharp. I wonder what he looks like under black light ;) so he just rucked up and drove through did he?

So hey fixed my D.I.Y over flow, i was using a 1" I.D. pvc for a U tube. i changed it to a 1.5 I.d now if i turn off the pump and fill the sump fully, i have so much more flow that the 500g/h pump is not able to even keep up, i am glade i pu in a ball valve in it had to close it half way so that i could get ride of the gurgling sound from the over flow and so the the water doesn't just flow over the baffles in the sump. I really need to make the new sump now. and up grade to a bigger return pump so that i can use the old one for a skimmer i have been working out .

I am trying to find plans to make a good wood stand, but have only found one that even looks like it would work and that is just from pictures of it from here. Any Ideas?
