so I harvested some columbellids today for the DIBS Project. I told Brian I would pull out 50 and put them in the grow-out tank. So I gave it a shot and got all that I could reach in a few minutes on the back pane. It turned out to be 57 mature and semi-mature snails. They look great. I also tossd in a couple of my prized nerites. I think he will like those a lot. After I counted them and dropped them into the grow-out, I turned around and the glass was full of them again! They just keep coming.
I will also note that they are a bit agressive and will try to defend themsleves when picked up.
My wife and I checked out the tank after dark and the rocks are literally covered in snail babies. There are little white bumps all over everything. Hopefully Brian will get the distribution underway so I can off-gass some of these snails. Now the grow-out tank has approximately 250 baby DIBS Turbo sp., and the snails I pulled today. That should make a nice first shipment to Project DIBS.
Calm down guys...I need to mete out pics over time, much like the Microsoft product cycle! I did check out a Nikon D80 today and am contemplating buying one...
Those pics were taken in the evening after one light had already turned off.
