Any chance of a tear in the membrane?

Wasn't that a house of pain... Awe nevermind

hey guys....Sherman came over tonight and we messed with stuff. I asked hm to check corals for red bugs and he couldn't find any either. We did note some areas of improvement, and specifically he said that I don't have enough flow through the rocks for essentially a BB system. I tend to agree and will move my Vortechs lower tomorow.

cbui2: I actually have resin from them but I am not convinced to go with the spectrapure. I think that is basically a hobbiest system with an extra resin. Steve Weast has recommended it to me, and I did buy their resin, but I am not sure I "buy into" their marketing.

I pulled apart my mult-media reactor (while embibing) to change out the RowaPhos and carbon. We noted that the Rowa appeared to be a bit low and discussed the possibility that Rowa fines may be getting into the system. I am running the effluent through a 100 micron sock, but he sugested that I run it through 2 socks and see what the result is.

Once I got the reactor all changed out, I ran water to fill it up but forgot to open the exit valve. One of the seams busted while we were standing there...so, now I need to do a repair. Unfortunately the whole point was to get fresh Rowa and carbon running.

I did test my SW and found zero nitrate and phosphate so at least I am not adding any to the system. I added a second DI chamber to my RO/DI so that is keeping the water at zero TDS. I still don't understand why my RO/DI systems have essentially reduced the polishing, and am considering going to a commercial system.

Cypress Hill maybe.....

Thanks... Music from that era of my life is a little vague do to the alternative chemical therapy I was on:smokin:

Now this I have heard of before, but I'll have to back track and see if the symptoms were similar.

Drinking and reefing...when will you learn? :D

I got some killer ice cream in too yesterday. It's like $6/pt...mmmmm.....now I get to go home and play with glue!

So I repaired the busted seam on my reactor and set it back up. While I was waqiting for the glue to dry, I set about vacuuming the sump. That didn't go so well...especially since I forgot to turn off the return pump.

What a newb error! I clouded the display and realized that I didn't have enough filtration without the reactor so I rushed to get it back online. It is working fine but I cracked one pipe fitting. It's a small drip into the sump so I am going to let it run until the tank clears. I put in 2g of fresh carbon, rinsed the detritus out of the coral bones, and added 1 liter of fresh Rowa. I am running the effluent through two 100 micron socks. I think I need to upgrade to much finer socks though. I also put a sock on the skimmer output to try and get more.

I hope it clears up quickly...

looks like it is slowly clearing up. no sliming fom the SPS so I think I can rest easy. the carbon should help a lot.

no need for another disaster now, got to be very careful. next time leave the beer in the ice box until your done, lol..

Well I was up at 3 am for no good reason, but had to get to the store by 6 am...trouble shooting until 9 am...now I am back at the store for more PAIN. Hopefully when I get back it will all be good or I am gonna have to drink some more. :eek1:
