No kidding. Well I have never tripped and fallen but recently I have accidentally kicked the fill valve open without realizing it, and came back into the tank room to sumps with extra water in them. That's not such a big deal since I made the sumps able to handle the water volume. And it takes a lot of water to move my salinity.

And I guess what happened is the video got clipped by photobucket since i had gone on to say that I have the lines across the floor but I think it is a small price to oay for the efficiency of the system. :)

nice vids..Now you might as well make a couple vids of your entire system. Lighting, plumbing, the famous manifold, and what ever else.

Thanks! I will but I have to wait until this brown algae issue is resolved. I am contemplating an equipment walk-through, but I'll have to break it up so it doesn't get chppoed off by photobucket!

well, I don't want to sound like a shill, but it has been a good pump for what it is. It's not like I need a Dart to stir my SW right?

Hehe, I was referencing your "It's a nothing pump" comment. And no, you don't need a Dart. The maxijet works just fine for me. Of course, I'm not mixing nearly as much water as you. Oh, btw, I like the video, if a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million!

The QO's are the best "little" pumps I've tried. I have 7 or more various Mags in a heap ( a 12, 2 x 9.5s, 2 x 7s , 2 x 5s) and use two QOs (a 4,000 return and a 1200 for skimmer feed) to run my sump, they are way more dependable and are Nothing in $ to performance and watts & heat gain when compared to a Mag .... sorry Mag ... the truth hurts!

I use a Tunze to mix my 55g at a time. :D

Exactly. Welcome Back Marc!

And Bax, I have a virtually brand new Mag I had bought to help vacuum my tank and it is just taking up space too. I don't like it very much, and man does it get hot! Sometimes I visit reefers that have 2, 3, 4 + Mag pumps in their system and I am baffled by that.

That was a big item I corrected when I upgraded my sump. I had a mag18 for my skimmer and a mag24 for my return. They added a lot of heat to the water. They also wasted as much electricity as my new Hammerhead and Marlin.

What did you replace the mags with?

Thiago- I didn't just replace the mags. I upgraded my system to a much bigger skimmer and sump. My skimmer is powered with a Sequence reeflo Marlin and my main return is a Sequence Reeflo Hammerhead. This would have been overkill with my old setup. IMO some of the best pumps out there. Can't beat the Baldor motors they use.

One good thing with my old mags. I made my water change system with them. Great for mixing and pumping water.

Did some more vacuuming of the display again today and got to see the baby GBTA. It looks really healthy and is about 6 - 7" across. I am glad it didn't croak on me. All of the anemones are now out and enjoying life, so I take that as a sign of improving water quality. The tank has been really clear in the mornings so I am stoked about that.

So I ended up with a coral I have never dealt with before and need some advice.

It's a chalice and I am having a hard time finding information on how much light and what kind of flow they need. Does anyone have any good info. or links on them?

medium to low flow ( like that's going to tell you much)
medium lighting too. Better not have it near any of your prized SPS though, the tentacles come out at night and can pack a potent sting ( as do most LPS)

crap. I have it in the wrong place!! Medium lighting? What the hell is that? I may have to trade this puppy off. I think it's an alien eye, but I am not too sure. better move it before the lights come on...

the flow is more important than the lighting really. LPS in gerenal can adapt pretty well to lighting changes. As long as you're not blasting it with SPS type flow I think you should leave it where it is.
