OK! Enough chat...Starting a 1000g+ Reef

well, I originally placed it (after lights out) up high on top of the reef wall so it would get way too much light there and the flow is a little high as well, being withina foot or so of a Vortech.
I am definitely going to move it. Probably to the center of the tank anyway to not shock it too much. Thanks for the help D!

I would frag it into 3 pieces...the dead one, and two live ones just to try and ensure that at least one survives.
I just did a vacuum session and water change. Looks like fish pieces floating in the tank...not sure what that is all about, but the fish aren't trying to eat it, so maybe it is something else.
One table is sliming up crazy like, but I think that is a response to the air "injection" when I vacuum the system down until the sump runs dry.
I moved the chalice to front and center, right where the old tort was. Since I have the Vortechs turned down and the middle lamp is in the dish reflector, I think this will be a good spot, if not temporary.
Tank looked very good this morning so my progress continues with the brown algal/bacteria bloom. I really need to blast the rocks too. I think I will start cleaning the glass as well, maybe one or two square feet at a time. I just want to be careful not to release too much brown stuff into the water column at one time.

BTW D, you need anything from Barrier Reef? Sherman and I are going over there tomorrow. You can come too if you like...I have a tentative get together with Luke and maybe even one with Dang, if his schedule allows.

hehehehe...access to the car! That's funny. Well, Sherman is doing the driving so I can't speak for him, but I don't see why it would be a problem.
Just let us know if you can go and we'll work it out. Maybe I would come and get you and leave Ari there to play with your kids??

well, I may be in a little trouble...I just got stung by something in my tank... not sure what it was though.
I was moving an urchin from the overflow and into the display, and at some point I got stung. It looks a lot like a cookie sheet pan burn, and I don't know if I came in contact with the Foxface or not. It could have easily thought it was feeding time as I did it right at the time I usually feed.
It hurts a little and is a little rashy. Maybe I'll pop a Benadryl? There's a little bit of tingling in my fingers too. Also in the overflow and a possible contact point is some aiptasia. Has anyone heard of getting stung by them? I noticed that a couple were a little flattened/retracted after i felt the sting.

I think the foxface spine would have had to penetrate the skin and my guess is you would have felt it unless you were inebriated...again. :beer:
Is it on the inside of your forearm? Tends to be a tender spot. My guess would be the aptasia. Got any benedryl cream?
'shrooms and that tend to make my fingers go numb. I wear gloves now because they say it gets worse each time.

Got my goldflake angel the other day...VERY PRETTY
. In QT now, nice and fat but hasn't started eating yet, Might have something to do wih FEDEX crushing the box!!! :furious:
Still trying to catch the rest of the fish to QT in hyposalinity so I can let the tank go fallow. Got a few the other day and plan on spending my day tomorrow catching the rest of the suckers.
The elegance is doing very well also.

I actually have some broken skin where I got stung. It looks a lot better today, but I am thinking it was the rabbit.
