I'm sure I'm overdue for a good wet cleanup;) I almost had one the other night when I cleaned my skimmer and forgot to reinstall the drain tube...

These have saved me a number of times, well worth the $30. investment....

WOW!!!!!!!!

WOW!!!!!!!!

Most impressive..... Last weekend I started reading your EPIC 2.5 year thread. It is irreverent, fun, but full of worthwhile information. You have got everything : corp villains (a company that as a RC Newbie I dare not type its name), free speech oppression (what ever happened to Dang and his avatar). :(

It is amazing the number of postings with a the odd handful of posters. I will be following on and using you guys as my mentors. I have already put my tank on nap mode. I have also read Kent's 1000 gallon plywood tank thread (fingerlakesreef.com) when RC was off the air... I wonder what sort of "improvements" they have put in ... NSA inspired keyword alerts ;)

For someone who has gone through huge Medical trials I admire your tenacity to just get on with it.

Many thanks David:rollface:

just recently discovered the all mighty shop vac and I have no idea why I bothered doing cleanup or even normal maintenance without it. Need to chance a reactor, suck some water out so it doesn't overflow when you take it out of the sump. Have a spill, screw towels, just grab the shop-vac. I must have been brain dead before but I keep it plugged in next to the the tank all the time now :D

BTW I spend hundreds on a few water leak sensor for my aquatronica and I am now on my second replacement computer and it still can't detect any of those sensors. What a POS! Should have just purchased the cheap *** units chuck used.

LOL....They have saved me a number of times.....seems I have a very short memory and forget to turn off valves after they have been turned on....

Funny thing about those water sensors: They don't prevent spills! I have sensors tied into my ACIII Pro which emails and sounds an audible, but most of my spills are human error with human present, or nearby.

Sorry abou tthat Hop...I read your latest...last time I had one like that I melted a DC4HD, among other things.

Welcome aboard David. All questions and comments are welcome, unless they are stupid ones. :D

The one issue with shop-vacs is that their lifespan is considerably shortened when used for salt water. And I woudl not recommend using one with metal extensions and tips.

I was talking with a buddy the other day and the subject of spills came up. He knows a lot of folks in the field and the guys down at ORA in the beginning used to have a system where if you turned on a valve you had to wear a hubcap aroung you neck until it was turned off, so you didn't forget! :mixed:

guess we all suffer from short term memory, and I didn't even grow up in the 60's. :D

The shop-vac I use is all plastic, won't catch me with metal around my aquarium.. I hope. Thanks for the heads up on the shorter lifespan.

Think i might start the hub cap thing at home, but knowing my dumb *** I'll get lazy because of the weight and sit down on the couch and pass out....

no doubt. that's my problem too. I can set all the timers in the World but if I leave it in one room I am screwed. Maybe some sort of geeky stop watch with audible alarm that I can hang around my neck? Seriously, that would be a babe magnet for sure!

lol... that or they are all money mongering whores who could give a **** what they sleep with as long as he makes it rain on them hoes.

Dude is awesome though, amazing what you can accomplish with a extreme personality.
