hmmm...I am going to need help understanding that suggestion. What the heck do you mean?

Think of corrogated iron but with less and more pronounced depressions, running the length of the tank. A nice place for detritus to settle in. At the end of each one, a bulkhead leading to a manifold with a valve. Open the valve and the detritus just flows out of the tank as you do a water change.

Brilliant! :D

I love the idea! You've got my mind churning now! Have you given any thought to what you'll make it out of? Acrylic again?

Brilliant? I think you guys are forgetting about the water pressure involved. AND I am building a bulkhead free tank. Pay attention. Two demerits for both of you wizards.

Nope. Acrylic is a distant back-up plan for me. I want it to be made out of composite material and low-iron glass. There is even a glimmer of building it using PAXCON over Coosa board.

That sounds sexy! Reminds me of Fudge's build with the portholes that give the perception of something more. I think the idea is fantastic, and to not have any bulkheads is pretty sweet.

We've been tossing around the idea of a fiberglass & glass tank for our next system.

And the part where you mention no bulkheads is where?!?!?!?!?!

Talk about demerits...more like demented!

FB is fine. So is Kevlar, or mix of the two. The real question is, if you are going to have waves, how many cycles is your material good for?

"yet" is the key word! You have to give it try at least. I'll donate the down draft tube (I think I have a six foot section) and bio-balls and you can borrow the pcx-40 to see if you like it. You might be pleasantly surprised!

Barry,

The whole plan is to have ZERO penetrations.

I bet that was your wife's idea...doesn't sound like much fun at all! :(

Sounds good, I have tomorrow off so give me a call when you get up and around. I sold the rims from the Dakota today. I almost cried when they drove off . . . almost!

geez...did you get decent coin from them? Funny thing is I still haven't sold the roll bar from my '63 Impalla that I had when I was a kid. It would be like losing a family member, only worse.

I got $600.00 for the set. I'm shopping for tires for the f150 now, not buying wheels for it. I picked up a Rockstar energy drink 4 hours ago and drank half of it and I can't go to sleep dammit!

don't break your wrist! $600 is what, half of what you paid?

Russ (krautburner) says he will be at the racetrack all day Sat. if we want to go check him out.

I'm really confused. If you don't have ANY bulkheads, how do you get the water to your sump/skimmer/fuge? Siphon overflow boxes?

Or a built in skimmer box at the top edge? TADA! D'OH!
