So I would be pushing 624 watts into about 85 gallons Cost seems pretty good.

Opinions?

that'll be good Clark

as Chad is implying, make sure its individual reflectors or you get very poor efficiency

also - in a frag tank where growth is so important, is it possible to just use only 65KK bulbs, or do the corals actually need actinic for something?

single reflector ?

I have no idea. If it is a single reflector, I would be better to go with the 6 bulb with individual reflectors, right?

For the price I am assuming single reflector. Thats why I post before I buy

Actinic lighting spectrums are definitely beneficial to corals. I was looking for a study I had read and couldn't find it. I seem to remember that using at least one actinic bulb for every daylight bulb is recommended. It does depend on the type of coral in the tank and what light it receives in nature.

i do for a 6 bulb setup 2 actnic and 4 daylight, so you can get growth but still have actnic for color and sunrise and sunset effect with timers.

Be VERY VERY careful about putting T-5s over a shallow tank (don't know how deep yours is). It took quite a bit of messing with bulbs and various heights from the water before my corals were happy and NOT getting fried. I have a 40 breeder for a depth reference :)

Well, its decided. I went with both t5 and mh!! Here is the unit
