Old 40g breeder

I have a friend that is giving me a used 40g breeder that used to house a rabbit. Would it be safe to use it as a banggai breeder tank, if cleaned/disinfected properly?

What would be the best way to clean/disinfect?

Thanks.

The silicone has quite likely absorbed a good bit of ammonia from rabbit pee. I typically condemn tanks for fish use if they have been used to house animals like rabbits and other small fuzzy's.

Well it was worth a shot... the tank was leak tested and failed.

On a brighter note I am getting a custom acrylic tank for my banggai setup....

thanks again for the replies.

I thought about that but the tank had a hairline crack in the bottom cornerthat we did not see when he offered it.

I am going to try an idea that this guy from Africa posted at a breeders forum. Using 3 males for 1 female

The custom tank will be 36x24x18. There will be 4 rooms in this tank. 3 small rooms for the males and one large whoring room for the female.

The idea is based on the female laying eggs every 2weeks. Keeping that in mind, the male carries the eggs for 21 days until he releases the fry. This will give the male a chance to regain his strength to carry another set of eggs after the other 2 males get their eggs/fry.

Do you guys think this will work?
