I hooked up an old Prism skimmer I have to see if it worked in case I want to use it on a future tank or quarantine tank. I was surprised to see that it pulled out more gunk than my ASM G2. Both skimmers were started at the same time and clean. I would expect the ASM to start pulling more today, since it skims slow after a cleaning. I am running it hanging on the tank and had to turn the flow valve almost all the way down to keep it from skimming pure water. I guess that is because the water level is high in the tank. The gunk isn't real dark but looks good. I wonder if the Prism will pull out stuff the ASM misses since it is a downdraft skimmer? If anyone has any thoughts on why the Prism is running so well I would be interested. I will compare volumes after a week.
