Oldude's Little Reef on the Prairie

I was reviewing some of your recent pics, and I just gotta ask - WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?

That my friend is Cyphastrea Decadia

Decadent is right. They look like a bunch of long, plastic, helical gear tubes badly glued together. Ain't nature grand?

Thx,

What are the needs of the Cyphastrea Decadia High light? Flow requirements?

In my experience it likes medium flow, and as for lighting if you keep under higher light it tends to get rather pinkish like mine is and under lower light it tends to turn more of a bluish green like the meteor shower. If you look at the picture by the base of the coral where it's more shaded you'll see what I mean. It is essentially a "branching meteor shower"

How have you avoided getting aefw? Again .... and u ever get rid of that crazy coralline algae that was aggressive? I'm almost to the point with my tank and doing a kinda start over due to the fact that I have a brown wafer algae that smothers my acros I also have aefw and probably month nudis as well along with Angels that make it hard to keep anything happy kinda like u were back with your old tank ...... Did u replace your rock with the do over ? I don't remember?

For the AEFW - I used a lot of peppermint shrimps. The aggressive coralline was in my old system and I haven't noticed it coming back. For the wafer algae I recommend a naso tang - they love that stuff and should clean it up for you in no time. Finally yes I replaced my rock when I did the do over.
