Oldude's new 400 gal tank build

That pink and green sps has to be the coolest coral I have ever seen! It looks like a mix between a millipora and a dinosaur egg montipora

What mode are you keeping your vortechs in greg i have 2 of them in my 55 gal and i have to keep it alittle under 75% because it splashes in my 55.

I have set on lagoon at about 75% right now. When the currents cross with the Tunzes it makes the water jump out of the tank if they are on at 100%. Things should be different in the new tank.

I am told the starphire glass should finally be ready for the first week in November or so. I had to go with a slightly thinner piece than anticipated so it is being tempered for additional strength. Here's another nice little piece anxiously awaiting the move from the prop tank to the new display.

Gaahhhh!!! .. If that were sherbet I'd have eaten it all by now. What a colour. :)

I would guess tempering should make the difference .. I had the same thing for my tank, went with 1/2" since thicker wasn't available at the time or something like that (not in Starphire I mean), and so went tempered to be on the safe side. Only thing is I still wonder if I should frame over the corner or leave it exposed..

So what thickness did you end up going with Greg?
1/2" for the front panel. They guarantee that tempering the glass will make it plenty strong enough but some of the starphire clarity is lost in the process.

UPDATE

UPDATE

The wetbar got ripped out last night which puts me one step closer to having the area ready for the new tank. Now working on getting the remaining carpet up and many things getting moved around.
Here's a few pictures of some corals waiting for the move to help keep the thread tolerable.

I know, I always think the tank is full and then... I see "the one" and start to figure where I can cram a few more ;)

I'm thinking about starting one of those frag racks too, that should give me room for about 10 frags or so :D

Those are some incredible corals! I think I'll have to tag along on this build! I'm sure it is going to be amazing!

Thank you although I was hoping my tank wouldn't be disgusting. ;)

Thanks for the compliment and glad you're tagging along through the build.

That first picture of the pink colony is perfect. Can't wait to see your new tank up and running.

There are a lot of familiar people in his thread! :D
