Oldude's new 400 gal tank build

Thanks guys, thanks for looking.

I use Dow flakes for calcium (I still have about 40 lbs left from before they made the chemical changes)
I use Arm & Hammer BS, I buy it at Costco.
I use the Dow mag flakes (mag chloride) & I add in the epsom salts (Mag sulfate) also bought at Costco. I use RHF recipe #2 because my ph doesn't need to be increased by baking the sodium bicarbonate. When I run out of my existing stock I will likely order through BRS.
Hope that helps.

thank you Sir!

elijaher - Wow that is really nice. Thanks for the pic Greg.
Thanks & your welcome. ;)
Atomikk - I got the same hammer Greg, grown from a 1/2" frag. Love it!
Hey Vlad, yeah I got mine several years ago and it was about 2" across at that time. It would likely grow faster if I fed it but I don't want it much bigger than it is already.
bigdog69 - very nice color
Thank you kindly.
Dejavu - Greg, looks like the SPS are doing much better
Yeah Brian it's funny.... some is & some isn't. I just can figure out the problems.:hammer:
kinlayan - Greg

what are your kh and Ca levels most of the time? where do you like to keep them at?
I like to keep the ca about 420 - 440 & alk around 8 dhk. Usually they stay close to that range.

You are very welcome, I hope that helped. Don't hesitate to ask questions and I'll always help if I can.
:fish1:

i am getting 50 lbs of calcium this weekend and more kalkwasser from a fellow reefer hopefully its enough to last for a while
also do you recommend a juvenille emperor and regal angel on my tank.
you can post it on my thread so i won't clutter your wonderful thread with my selfish question.
thanks again

Angels are so hit & miss but sometimes you get lucky.....although I didn't. My emperor doesn't play nice & has devoured several corals and a few clams.

i might skip the emperor although its one of my favorite fish i will just have a regal angel instead.

Couple of quick question Sir
did you add more wrasse on the tank and are you considering replacing your beloved meredith angel?
thank you

Couple of quick question Sir

thank you

My wrasse count as of today is 9 and as follows:
1- mystery
1- cleaner
1- radiant
1- solar
1- pencil
1- yellow coris
1- white spotted (added a few weeks ago)
1- leopard
1- 6 line
The (maroon wrasse?) I had disappeared about two months ago.

I have no plans at this time to replace the meredithi angel. Unfortunately as my imperator started to mature it often picked on it even though it had been introduced first so it would most likely kill a new one.

At this stage of the game wrasses are one of the few fish I plan to keep adding. Always keeping my eye out for the right species & the right deal.

Thanks for your interest.

I installed a new auto top off unit before I left for holidays a week ago Friday and was gone a week and it passed the test with flying colours. My issue was the Tunze Osmolator shuts down all the time because of the built-in 10 minute run time safety feature. My display water level rises and lowers with the weather so as my sump level drops the Tunze would of course come on to top up but stalls out after 10 minutes and doesn't reset itself so it was a pain in the neck. I couldn't go away without someone checking on it daily (evaporation is about 8-10 gallons per day) to make sure it was still working and if the sump level was low it needed to be topped off manually with a hose from the FW holding tank. The Tunze is still set up but is no longer the primary top-off unit. Anyway the problem is now resolved.....YEAH!!!!:artist:

RParker - It's been awhile since I checked out your thread and I'm still amazed everytime I see your tank!
Thank you.

reefer96 - About how much live rock do you have in your system? Best guess?

Thanks
I would guess there is around 600+ lbs though the various tanks in the system.
