Greg sorry to hear that you’re still having some issues. Your tank has always been one that I’ve really admired and I love that you share your experiences with others. Greg, this is news to me that you are having issues! From my experience, never give up. I have been on a looooong rollercoaster ride with my systems. There are great times, and then there are bad times.

For example, recently i was getting corals that would inexplicably die. No signs of STN, just overnight RTN. So I tested my water for stray current, and what do you know.. I have tonnes! My two shaft driven Sequence pumps are leaking enormous current into the water. I took one offline, and things slowly improved.

This is what I mean... sometimes you just don't know and it is all a learning process. If you need anything let me know. I have 100s of corals that I can give you in a trade or as a gift!

Just a quick question in regards to your comments on stray current being provided by the sequence pumps. What is your plan about replacing or dealing with the current that is being released by these pumps?
Have you ever employed a ground probe in an attempt to see if that would aid the stray voltage?

The funny thing is I just pick up a adult emperor angel from fellow reefer that have it on his 60 gallon mixed sps tank
I hoping he will play nice because my blue regal tang is the big cheese mean boss on my tank and all of my tangs are afraid of him even my large purple tang . Hopefully he will be put in check

I replaced a pump with a cracked magnet a few months ago and I will be checking for stray current but I have my doubts that is the issue. I appreciate your generous offer, I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

I have two grounding probes in my system and I know I never feel any shocking sensations when I put my hand in the tanks. Who knows.

It already reek havoc and eat all of my high zoa and nips at my clams but I will give him another chance

I am still in loooooong negotiations on how to deal with my issue. Both pumps are under warranty, but I hope to get replacements soon. I have only one online right now. The other is shut down due to too much stray current.

As far as I been told, grounding probes only complete the circuit and really do not do anything to prevent you from getting zapped. Having GFCI circuits will.

Greg, did you test your water for stray currents?

The clownfish in my angel/softy tank have been busy. This is the 2nd batch of eggs in the past 3 weeks. The last ones got eaten by something after they got to be a worthy size. We'll see what happens with this latest batch.These are about 3-4 days old.

It's interesting how things so often happen all at once or just run from one to another creating a bad blurr of events. I had several issues with my system mainly starting with what I am sure was bad DI resin poisoning my tank to other issues I couldn't identify to the latest overun of pests, namely AEFW & Monti eating nudis and who knows what else. (yes I have learned my lesson to always dip & QT new subjects) I've been so busy & distracted with work this year that I didn't realize just how bad things had gotten and was chalking it up to other issues. It seems like the only thing I haven't run into lately is red bugs. Anyway long story short, my tank was completely desimated and I lost almost everything. I have a few dozen pieces in rough shape at a friends (thanks Gary) for safe keeping and in another few weeks will be basically starting over mostly from scratch. Considering I had around 200 corals about a year ago these lousy few pieces I have left don't seem to amount to much and will look pretty lonely when reintroduced. That said, I am optimistic that my new sps reef will be -better-stronger-faster-(que the 6 million dollar man theme music here) and should be off & running shortly. In another year or so I am hoping to have it all looking like a natural reef again & better than ever.
On a positive note when I was pulling some things apart I found this nasty coral munching crab I've been after for over 2 years, so I'm rid of yet another pest.

Have you decided on which skimmer you will be using to run your new reef? I recall you were previously running a Euroreef RC 500 skimmer at one time and discussed upgrading. Just curious if you upgraded skimmers yet, and if so, which skimmer did you select. I am currently running the RC 500 skimmer on my 400g SPS system as well.
