OMAS Logo

Love them all!

Working in an ad agency, I tend to think about how logos will reproduce on different mediums...like t-shirts, fliers, advertisements, black & white photo copy, internet, etc. Typically, the simpler logo works best. Most importantly, we want to remain consistent once a new logo has been chosen.

Thus, from a "professional" standpoint, I think the logo with the seascape behind it will reproduce well on everything...with or without the clownfish logo (that part could be optional).

Your college try is much better than mine (I created the old logo while in college a long time ago <g>). Only had MS Word with clip art at that time, though...

I hear ya. *Points to the Occupation under his name* I prefer the look of the last logo the most, but for reproduction ability, I would say the ocean background alone, but it would really be nice to see the one with the clowns on it. If we really wanted to, we could order blank shirts in bulk for everyone and get some of those iron-on sheets that you print out of your printer at home and iron on our own logos :)

Also, make sure that you aren't stepping on any copyright enfingements. I could have sworn I've seen both of the backgrounds on an online retailer site.

i have used cafepress for shirts and things in the past. you come up with a design/logo and post it to your own "online shop". you also get to set your own prices based on the cost and how much markup you want. cafepress will then produce the item as it is ordered and pay you any markup automaticly!

people who are interested (omas members, etc) can buy them and have them shipped directly to themselves. no one has to know what size :) anyone is ordering, or even how many they are ordering. or, you can gather the order together and place the order through the owner of the store (OMAS) and buy things at a cost.

use it as a fundraiser, or as a way of getting things wholsale for members. your choice.

if you want to see an example, here's my store: http://www.cafepress.com/lulufaboo (the PSA section is my personal favorite :) )

as an example, a t-shirt with full color front and back printing has a cost of $13.99 but i marked it up to $18.00. i can buy it for myself at $13.99 or anyone can buy it for $18. buying multiples from your own store qualifies for volume discounts.

i've bought stuff from them as well and the quality is very good.

just an option...

File size limits:

JPG - 7MB
PNG - 4MB

That's a lot of resolution for those file formats. i'm unsure of the output resolution, however, i have a bunch of shirts that i had them print that have high contrast black lines. there was no pixelation at all on the edges of the lines. everything was nice and smooth with sharp lines and good contrast.

of course the output will never be better than the original files. so make sure that your original artwork is of the best quality.

No problem with the backgrounds we are a nonprofit organization and they would not be infringed on. Someone setup a poll because I do not know how to.

A suggestion only: Let's wait until Sunday night or early next week to do the poll. this will give people a chance to take a look at this thread over the weekend and pass on suggestions for Jason to consider and incorporate or discard at his option.

Just an idea. I love what Jason's done already but maybe somebody will come up with a minor tweek over the weekend to make the final choice even better

oops - i done posted the dang poll thingy already...

vote... comment... re-work... re-vote... process ad infinitum

This club moves with extraordinary speed, which is WONDERFUL !!

Thanks phetish for posting the poll so quickly.

If anybody has any suggestions, they can still pass them onto Jason (I Love Coral) and he can decide if they are sufficiently worthy to tweek one of his masterpieces.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see the results of your poll.

Thanks !!
George

I love the one with the reefscape background with or without the clown (but I do like the clown).

Great job Jason!!

OMAS logo

OK, I know I'm not an official member of OMAS, but by way of sleeping with the President I figure I might be able to put my two cents in...hee hee! Riskaayyy!

For T shirts...what about putting the little clown fish on the front right chest and then the big print OMAS with the reef inlay, across the back of the T shirt. For business cards, I'd just use the OMAS logo with the colorful reef inlay alone.

OK, I'm done.

Are you talking about her idea about the t-shirts or her idea of sleeping with the President?

I think both are good ideas.

What file format is the original art? If its jpg be careful....the out out size will get fuzzy. I just went through this for our club. If its an AI file your all set but if not you might concider working on the art full size. This will definatly make for a large file.

It all depends on the DPI. The art work is saved at a great resolution and if need be I can raise it.

i will say that the cafepress shirts that i have gotten have had wonderful resolution on the output side (the actual shirts). curves are smooth without pixelation/jaggies with good contrast.

what you put in will determine what you get out.
