OMG, I knew it! Cyano came from outer space!

Cosmic life cool.
Thanks for sharing that. Makes some sense to me since cyno is thought to need water CO2 and light. With some strains perhaps not even needing photosynthesis when in a heterotrophic mode, so we are down to water and nitrogen. There is plenty of nitrogen gas(N2) out there and cyano has the enzyme to break it up and let it fix to hydrogen and or carbon and take the forms needed to make proteins , peptides dna etc. There you go we're off in a life cycle. Amazing how important this organism is . Very exciting find.

I don't think any biologists agree with Dr. Hoover. There is nothing about the structures that indicates that they were once alive other than very superficial resemblance.

Oh well, it's fun to think about the possibility. Thanks for clarifying the apparently very reasonable skepticism from biologists.

 well, we can be glad, as a planet, that we have it: it's been our friend as far as supplying oxygen to the atmosphere.

Maybe its time to send some Cyano to Mars to make it inhabitable ?

Wait, does this mean if I believe in Darwin's theory, then Cyano which we try to kill all the time is actually our grand grand grand ancestors ? Im dumping my skimmate back in, Im coming Grandpa !!
