OMG Now what do I Do?

Vins Fins,

The stink issue is 2 fold.

1) salt is a natural dessicant, it does not "boil off quicker" just as a pot of salted water takes longer to boil, so does salt water take longer to evaporate. That said, since the cooncentration of salt increases as the liquid dries, the environment gets increasingly more hostile for fungus and similar life forms capable of producing a bad odor.

2) Most water from marine tanks is significantly lower in DOC than their freshwater counterparts due to stronger filtration.

I think salt water may also do less damage due to osmosis. I have no proof of that, but I don't hear about buckled floors from a marine tank spill like I do from freshwater spills.

Well I was kind of fortunate, under the carpet there is some nice vintage 1970's linolem.

Anyway the carpet was reinstalled today. So hopefully I can get the tank back up soon...
