One last large angel to add to my DT

I recently lost my blue line Angel to a clam and now I want to add another large angel. I have a mixed reef mainly sps and clams.

Tank size: 325g DT - 550g total.

Current fish list:

Powder Blue Tang
Achilles Tang
Mimic Tang
Hippo Tang
Yellow Tang
Purple Tang
Sailfin Tang
Flame Angel
Emporer Angel
3xgreen cromis

I need an Angel that will hopefully get along with my Emporer and be some what reef safe.

My Blueline was a picker and it ended up costing him his life. I would not do another blueline for that reason.

I have been leaning towards either a majestic or Goldflake.

Let me know your thoughts even if it is not to add.

Thanks,

Pat

Except for watanabei, Bellus, and swallowtail Angels, all others could be pickers. Maybe just consider a nice pair of the reefsafe Angels mentioned above?

I would go for the majestic. From all I have read about them and seeing them in tanks, they are beautiful and from what I know not to aggressive. Just my 2 cents though

^This, emperors are extremely aggressive and will limit what large angels can be added or at least how "large" the newcomer will need to be

I agree, I had a med-large juvenile and it picked on a regal angel that was twice his size

It's a 325g so it should have a fair chance to add another angel as long as there are enough places to hide. Emp is aggressive but my exp is that their aggression is not lethal unless it's another angelfish that's in the same genus.

Lots of talk about a majestic. Same genus. And kind of a wimp, at that!

It's just tough when the first angel in there is one of the larger, more aggressive ones.

I also made that mistake with my fish angel in my 180g, but it didn't mind the flagfin, blue spotted, watanabei, regal, and queen that I've added since. Maybe it's just my luck, but I think genus, color, and shape has a lot to do with their aggression.

My emporer is pretty big about 11 or 12 inches i have had him for about 6 years or 7 years. He was not bad with my blueline but i added my blueline a few days before my emporer when i upgraded my aquarium in march. Now that m emporer is established as king of the tank im worried.

Agreed. Majestics are pretty meek. I would worry about it getting bulled by the emperor and the tangs.

One possibility would be to quarentine your angel and allow the majestic time to get comfortable, then reintroduce your emperor to the dt. I will say, I had a majestic for many years in a mixed reef. They are very meek.
