One of my saddest days in reefing

Your neighbor is a moron.

Sorry about your tank. I lived in Southern California too (Glendale, CA) for 11 years and never experienced a two-day black out. So in fairness, this is, for Socali hobbyists, an extenuating circumstance.

I know there's a thread out there talking about "how could someone not have a back up plan?". I don't think Hugo is an i d i o t so please spare him the lecture. He was always there to help and share. Just empathize.

Hugo, I know it hurts you. I know that it was a big part of your self esteem, pride, and your life. Don't worry, bro. Man up. I have seen tanks crash in this forum. And I have never seen a crashed tank which was reborn that is uglier than the original. It always becomes better.

Nonetheless, I know that no words can really comfort you right now. I mean, those specimen are not things easily found. Keep your head up, consider this an opportunity. And guess what, WHEN you come back up, your story will be the Tank of the YEAR, bro. At least TOTM.

Cheer up. You can only go up from here.

Condolensces, Hugo.

Thank you tacocat and hopefully when you come you'll bring me two handfuls of corals I' tried to talk to John but he hasn't answered

He's been busy. He just got back from vacation, and he is fighting the heat also because his tank is in the garage.

Get a QT tank and some Interceptor ready. I've got Red Bugs and I'm waiting to QT until my next tank is ready. Maybe it's karma that my Atlantis Cyphastrea frag broke in half last night. :D

Sniper, I have just finished reading this devasting thread. I have only recently began in reefing and your reef and corals were an inspiration to all. My condolences on the loss of your reef. Good luck.

Hugo, I am very sorry about this tragedy...it is truly a loss and I can't even imagine what your feeling right now...this is a very very sad day for the reefing community all together, not only for SoCal reefers...I have seen your tank before from TOTM and I know it took a lot of effort and patience to be able to come up with an SPS/fish collection like that through the years...

I am also willing to help you in any way...I am also in SoCal and I have a small SPS collection, which BTW is nothing compared to yours, but if you are interested, just let me know...just to get you started back up and restore what you've lost...

FWIW, it just so happens that I bought a computer UPS yesterday due to all our SoCal power problems (which seems to me is going to be kind of a part of our lives here due to the worsening heat/weather every time summer is upon us) from Best Buy and I think it's good enough to keep some pumps and some fans running while we all come up with solutions during a power failure like moving most of them, if not all to a willing fellow reefer and the like...here is the link if anybody is interested...http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...roductCategoryId=cat08029&id=1138083732315...
I know it is a little on the high $$$ but for all of our investments in our tanks, I think it would be worth it and useful in the long run...

Again, my condolences...

I had a mixed reef for a long time but I grew somewhat uninterested. This spring, I was browsing the internet when I came upon Reef Central. I quickly found your TOTM article and was absolutely amazed. I had no idea reef tanks could be as spectacular as your's SniperSPS.

That article is what inspired me to start over, rebuild, and try for a fraction of the beauty that you created. You have inspired many of us to try to do our best to create such wonder.

You indirectly added something to my life as I have never before had so much fun with this hobby as I am now, by rebuilding my tank. Thank you. Perhaps, you too will someday enjoy the process of rebuilding again.

I am just getting started with SPS frags so I have little to offer you in this time of sadness, except my sympathy. Perhaps we could start a fund for some of your costs. I would contribute to that.

Hang in there and know that you inspired many of us.

John

Hugo, so sorry. This is probably the saddest thread i've ever read on RC. Let me know if you need help w/anything.

OMG!!! That is horrible! I am so sorry Hugo. If you cover shipping or have someone here from the Bay Area pick up frags from me I will give you some nice LEs. Check out my site and let me know what you are most interested in. I'll hook you up with bigger pieces of the ones that I can do that with. PM me dude.

Don't want to be mean

Don't want to be mean

I know this sound mean especially after Hugo great loss but if he doesn't have sense enough to get a generator after a day without power then he deserved to lose everything.

Bui,

He has a generator, it's his neighbors and city ordanance that requires him to turn it off due to noise.

I live in westminster with him..don't know of any ordanance that doesn't allow him to run some generator unless he have a really freaking loud generator or a really mess up neightbors. I use to have a power generator that I run for 6 hours during the last power outtage in my neightborhood without any issue.
I would try to challenge anyone who willing to try to shut it off since its a life support for my pet. "Fish".
