One Spot Fox Stress Question

I have had a One spot for around a month or more now. He is very active, cruises the whole tank, eats and begs all the time, picks at the rocks. Seems completely happy and healthy minus always being light colored. Eats a mix of frozen foods and Nori sheets.

So being that Foxfaces change color when scared or stressed I'm assuming something is stressing him. Tankmates are just a clown and a lawnmower blenny so it's not them.

Salinty is .025
Temp 78
No ammonia, nitrite, and a small bit of nitrate if any.

Change the water once a week.

The one thing I have noticed is that the only time he is yellow is when the light is off. Once the light comes on he lightens to very pale yellow. I just have a single T8 so don't see how the brightness would effect him being it isn't very bright.

Only other potential stress is micro bubbles from skimmer. I could put a foam over the outlet and see what happens I guess. Any ideas on other stressors?

65 which I know is 5 below recommended minimum but I've read quite a bit about One Spot's in 65's before I bought him and also posted in the tank compatibility thread and was told it was fine.

I had a reg foxface in a 60 for about a year. While I was gathering up all the stuff for a upgrade. He didnt stay light colored. I dont think its a tank size issue if he is still small to medium sized.

Mine wasn't happy when I would get close to the tank. For about the first month. Took awhile. Then he was happy when we were close to the tank. Of course now that he is in a 125 he is extremely happy. Might just give him some more time to adjust to your lights and actions. Then go from there.

Mine goes into camo mode when either A.-He sees me take the canopy off, or B.- sees me get the ladder out to check something in the tank... They know that means someone or something is getting yanked out

Sounds like a scene from 'Finding Nemo'! :)

By far the most shy fish in the tank. Mine easily goes into camo mode. Mine does not ever seem to be the color shown in pics - the bright yellow. It's almost always a yellow with lots of black shading along it's dorsal region.

It eats like a pig. There is some danger it's shape will become more like a boxfish! :)

My one spot is the exact opposite - he's always his brightest yellow when my lights (LEDs) are on. He's normally a pale yellow, and only goes into camo mode when I scare the hell out of him by accident (turning on my phone while walking by the tank at night).

That sounds like mine. Black on top across the fins then pale yellowish/white. He loves food, I walk out of my bedroom in the morning and he starts going ballistic against the glass waiting for breakfast.

I'll give him some time. So far I have a perc clown who isn't afraid of anything but hangs out in the top inch of the tank 90% of the time. So you barely see him. A lawnmower Blenny that isn't shy but is hard to find half the time. So you barely see him. And a pale Foxface. So my it looks like I have an empty tank of rocks and a non colorful fish.

I believe I read once in a forum about a Fox Face being pale and then the guy switched to LED lights and he was yellow. Wouldn't think the light type matters but maybe who knows.

Here he is at his most yellow with the lights off. He doesn't sit still so its sort of blurry

Mine is almost always bright yellow. Only time he goes into camo mode is at night or if I'm putting my hands all the way in the tank messing with something. Otherwise, he's like a dog almost - eats from my hands. Just goes to show that every fish is different.
