One very important thing I learned from the 90

Live rock should be blown off at least once a week. I really neglected doing this. Now as I pull live rock from the storage tub I wish I had. Man is that fish poop gross lol. I never really had nitrate problems and that surprises me with the amount that I'm getting off of it.

nitrates?

nitrates?

what about phosphates!

brisk water movement, good tank turnover and mechanical filtration are good ways to cut down on that 'dust'.

Phosphates were kept at bay by a sump with cheato and a phosban reactor.

I think I did have good water movement from four K-4’s .and a mag 9 from the sump. I think most of it I’m seeing is from between the rocks that were on the middle to bottom of the stack. Not sure how to eliminate that other than using a power head to blow in between them. By the way Gary are you ever going to post any pics of the new stack????

I would venture to guess that my aquarium has water motion than most others and even mine needs 'storming' every now and then.

All of my liverock was heavily encrusted in coral growth so the new stack actually looks very similar to my old one after a hurricane hit it (ie: lots of busted up stressed out corals) :)

Good I always liked that stack. In the future I hope to have a peninsula style tank love the look. I’m sure the glass cleaning is not so fun tho.

(since my livestock is of Pacific origin) I meant to post cyclone instead of hurricane. Glass cleaning isn't bad. With PO4 and nitrates very low the green film is extremely slow to appear.
