Hey Brandon,

I'd love to know how you get such great macro shots underwater of moving fish. Could you share your lens, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and general technique for some of these? I'm a telephoto, bird-in-flight kind of guy, but wish I could get some shots like this of my tank.

i shoot with a f2.8 100mm canon lens on my t1i body. i sometimes cheat and just set it on action preset for fish. it works out really well for me. but for corals, ill use a tripod and set a delay exposure and set a 200ISO and a 1/20th exposure.....obv different heights in the tank take a different length of exposure. play around , its fun

Turn off MH? Through glass? Any special angles? You've got that expensive glass anyway. The f2.8 sounds like it's the special sauce. I've got the 50mm f1.8 but can't compete with your shots. I get reflection, blur, and poor color. Of course, my body is way outdated and first gen DSLR.

i keep MH on, and shoot threw glass. clean your glass. make sure youre sho is as perfect to an 90 degree angle to glass that you can get, any variation will have distortion to it.shoot close to the glass, that way reflection will be reduced. the color i correct in post processing to get it to be as close to real life. when u moveout here, we can hang and have a few beers and ill show ya how i go about it

you are very skilled.one comment with people wondering which camera took these awesome photos. The answer is the photographer took them not the camera.having a great camera does not equal great pics, lol.I am testament to that.Nice photos Brandon. You have a keen eye

Deal. I've got a 7D in my future. Now if I could just move and un-crash my tank life would be back on track.

Just picked up a new Canon today, excited to start using it. Awesome pics- I especially dig the Sixline photo.

Hows the Melanurus Wrasse with your other pets and coral? Its been on my want list and saw one for sale locally the other day, wanted to do a little research before biting the bullet. Funny too that the yellow watchman is also on my list and saw if at the lfs and on your thread.

melanurus wrasse is an amazing fish, and gets along with everthing in my tank. Keeps flatworms outta the tank and pest snails. id say get one for sure. i actually have a fairy wraase in there without an issue too.
