Online live rock?

I bought some from Marcorocks online and it did not have hardly any die off when i received it, i was impressed.
 
I just bought 50 lbs of marco's base rock, and 15 lbs of his new african razi live rock. Hang tight, I will be posting pics shortly after receiving it next week :)
 
I bought 50lbs from F&S last year and was very happy with it; and as always their customer service was top notch.

Bit off-topic but - Yes there customer service is 100% top notch, My sump I ordered from them came broke (From fedex) not once or twice but three times! I ended up with a $150 credit, I didn't pay much more then that for the sump to begin with, and the other three were sent back at no cost to me, so they didn't make money from my sump, they lost alot, but they are still happy they could help me out!

Now thats a company!
 
buy from local reefers, wysiwyg. save $$ on shipping. put out a thread to your local club(s) and see if anyone has any. my buddy filled a 55g with sand and rock for 50$. ( covered in coraline ) he didnt have to wait for a cycle because everything was established. we took water from another 180g WC. mixed it and viola. his tank it less than a month old with no major problems. GOOD LUCK
 
umm actually marco has dry and live.

I prefer dry rock. You never know what kind of nasties you will get with live rock.

I will take my chances on a few nasties that may appear in my tank to insure I give my tank the best chance of succeeding. By using dry rock you have no chance of having spaghetti worms, bristle worms, copods, micro stars and 100's of other beneficial organisms in your tank. These are all things needed to start a successful tank in my opinion that you have no chance of ever getting if you use dry rock. Live rock has all type of boring critters in it that allows for water flow through it and to eat detritus. I equate dry rock to using bio balls. It will host the Bactria needed for the nitrogen cycle, but at some point detritus is going to clog up the rock and turn it into a nitrate factory.

Of course you could get a cup of sand from someone else's tank or spend additional money to buy them from various on line sites or your LFS, but what is to prevent some nasties including ich into your tank.
 
how long has your tank been running? if it is still cycling then i would buy more of a half and half save some money AND seed off the dead stuff with the live stuff.
also CAS what are you talking about dry = to bio balls, NOT AT ALL. dead rock will become live as long as you seed it with live it is just a matter of time before it becomes live.

Marco rock is the dead rock they have been selling for years. They call their live rock by another year and started selling it a year ago.

Dry i.e. dead rock will never become live rock. It makes a great structure to be colonized by Bactria to facilitate the nitrogen cycle just like bio balls, but it will never become live rock.

Live rock contains many burrowing organisms as stated above that dry i.e. dead rock will never have even if it is seeded with live rock.
 
For what it is worth I have purchased livestock from liveaquaria and dealing with them was pleasant. I know that isn't an answer to the liverock question, but at least you can know that business with them went well.

Eagerly awaiting pictures. Keep us posted. Also, please note if it's dense and really heavy, or porous and rather light. It's its really dense, I don't care for it. We have that rock here all over FL.
 
I got my first 25# of LR from premium aquatics and was very happy with it. When I upgraded to a bigger tank I made a 2 hr drive to Pacific East Aquaculture so I could pick out my own rock for another 70#. Again, I was very happy. However, if I were to start a brand new tank now, I'd go with all dry rock and seed with LR that I could choose. Yes, I'd be missing out of a few nice hitchhikers and colonies of hair algae, bubble algae, etc, but I've gotten my best hichhikers from coral I've purchased including chitons, micro stars, zoanthids, etc. that was on the LR that the corals were mounted on.

I'm not sure if it was marcorocks or not, but I remember reading that one dealer sends pictures of the rock they'll be sending prior to shipping.
