onyx clowns?

I was hoping some one can provide me a link or refer me to a breeder/s preferably here on RC and a plus if their here in Michigan. I am looking for black onyx clowns. I dont know the scientific name of the ones I'm looking for cause I get confused when trying to research them cause they get called so many different names, come from different places and different numbers of spines to count? So I will make it easy and just say onyx clowns.
So please help me out. It doesn't matter if the breeder is out of Michigan as long as they are willing to ship.

there is only one place i know of that produces quality Onyx that color true, Rods reef in Dekalb illinois

http://www.rods-reef.com/ he ships.

here is my pair from him, the female is a misbar but she is still very onyx and both my clowns have the distinctive black dorsal fin

nice fish!

nice fish!

Nice fish you have there!
I ran across rods site in my search and really like what I saw and read about his fish. I'm actually waiting for a response from there now. Like you said about the quality of his fish looks to be the best, to me he has the quality I'm looking for! I hope to find a breeder that has bought fish like his hopfully local first just cause of being scared of shipping. If I can reduce any stress on the fish I would like to do so.
Did you have a good shipping experience through him?

ya no issues shipping, its availability that he has problems with he keeps running out of babies.

my fish were happy and playing in the bag when they got here, he only ships priority overnight so they fish get to you by 10AM guaranteed

plain flight

plain flight

Thinking about it I guess the trip wouldn't be to bad? Think he said it would fly out of Chicago. So from there to Detroit then an hour to me wouldn't be too bad?
If you don't mind me asking what did you pay with shipping for your pair?

For me, shipping to Pittsburg was little less than $55. Mine arrived happy and bouncing.

If you order form Rod Your bill will look something like this:

Onyx: $35-$75 (depending on the size and coloring.)
Box charge: $7 (uses a super insulated box from ULine, ain't cheap)
shipping (ups overnight 10:30 arrival):depends on where you live.

I spent total, for one $35 onyx, (it was one of the last 12 that he had) $99 and change.

The $35 clowns have no color and maybe only part of a second bar. The $40 clowns have part of the second bar and a decent amount of black coloring between the first and second bar. After that I don't know.

Edit: the only problem is that, like what was said earlier, they sell out extremely fast. Also the soonest he will have some more is around August. The wait is worth it though

ora?

ora?

I have a LFS that has onyx clowns from ORA. I hear about ORA a lot and was wondering about their fish. I like how Rod follows the traits down to the grand babies! Wondering if the genetics stay with ORA'S clowns?
My goal is to one day have my own onyx babies, I can always count on Barry white in the baby making process. I don't he'd be much help on the genetic side tho. Lol

ok

ok

Ok that explains the price difference! $85 for a pair. I will do the research to find the difference between the two, unless you want to tell me? If there's a quick way to tell? I thought it was one of those cases where the same fish was called one of 50 names just depending on where you bought it from.
Thanks for the heads up before I went after work to get a pair thinking I was getting a deal.
