Onyx True Percs - Good Anemones to Host?

I just ordered an Onyx True Perc pair from Booyah's (Mitch) and I'm wondering if there is a specific kind of anemone that I should be on the lookout for in order to up my chances of a possible hosting.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

They love bta's or atleast both of my pairs do. On the flip side though, they're not going to darken up like they should while being hosted by the bta

Do you have SPS in that tank? (( and is it the same one as in your sig? )).

Some of the natural hosts for Percs are Gigs (( Stichodactyla gigantea )), Mags, (( H. magnifica )) -- both tend to be poor shippers, difficult to keep and most of the time stay on the rocks. H. Crispa is also a natural host, they tend to stay on the sandbed. They do get rather large, however assuming that you find one that isn't bleached/dyed aren't all that difficult --- as far as anemones go.

BTAs (( Entacmaea quadricolor )) would work, but I personally wouldn't keep one in an SPS tank.

I currently have a pair of SI percs, and they are hosted by a Haddoni, prior to that they were hosted by an LTA (( Macrodactyla doreensis ))

I would recommend a H. crispa or H. malu. No problem with colorfad with this natural host species. They are easier to keep than the other two natural hose (H. magnifica or S. gigantea)
Here is mine

H. crispa or H. malu are great for reef tanks since they stay at the bottom and don't move around so much.

If it is not going in a coral tank then I would go with a BTA just because of the survivibility and the fact that they are now aqua-cultured on a large scale.

That photo does plague me. I have had a gif for about 3 months now, and while it appears very healthy I can't get tentacle extension anything like that. I 'm thinking my flow is too strong or my lights are too bright.

sorry I know it's showing off. I will get a video of the flow I have later today to give you an idea.

I've kept mine in RBTA and I hated it! I don't recommend anyone to keep their onyx in BTA. The color will fade out.

Color regained when I took all BTA out of the tank and the clowns found other substitutes in the tank.

At one point, I tried a gigantea but it did not last for more than two weeks. It looked excellent while it last....

They are now hosting in an elegance which I think it's the best hosting substitute.

They're also hosting in my large hairy mushroom.

Does anyone know if there are different strains of BTA that cause the color fade? I've had mine in a RBTA from day one, and they've colored up quite nicely.
