Open Brain Only Swells at Night, Looks Dying During The Day

I cant figure out what is wrong with my open brain. When I got it, it was all puffy and big during the day and releasing tentacles at night and happy but suddenly it stopped swelling and skeleton is showing.

At first I thought its dying because of the skeleton it shows but Its been like this for a month already and its health doesnt decline. Also at night when its dark sometimes it swells like its healty and thats when I saw there is no tissue receding.

However it still doesnt show its tentacles even when I feed it. I put food closer to its mouths and it eats them but there are no tentacles. Still eats food.

I think it started after I put it high in tank after I added more lights to my Diy Led fixture. It was all happ and puffy there during the day as well and after a week or 2, slowly declined to this state now. Its been on my sand for the last month but no change.

Today it was swollen like it should be during day at 2am and when I woke up at 7am it was still swollen until sun hits the room, it shriveled again.

Salinity: 35ppm
Ph: 8.2
Alk: 11dkh
Mg: 1400
Cal: 460
Temp: 80
Nitrate: 5
Phos: <0.1

Summary :
I dont understand whats wrong. No tentacles at all, skeleton showing during the day, accepts food, only swells at night (sometimes). What I saw when it was swollen that there is no tissue receding whatsoever.

What the hell is wrong with it?

it's possibly hungry.Night is when they feed. Your alk is also a little high. Try for 8.3

They only need light, I dont think everyone is feeding them everyday just to keep them open. However I have been feeding it for the last week every 2 days and no change.

I was thinking maybe intense change in light is the reason but arent they supposed to be bleached first? I didnt see any change in color.

IME they do not like strong direct light. I had mine on the sand bed under 250 MH, and they acted the same way. As soon as I moved him to a slightly shaded spot, he expanded like never before

I recently had a similar situation with mine when I switched to LEDs. I didn't have a PAR meter on hand, so I wasn't able to dial in my new lights. When I finally did get a PAR meter, I discovered that I was hitting it with almost triple the light of my old fixture. I dialed back the intensity and it came back after about a week.

It should be noted that they are night time feeders, so you won't necessarily see a lot of tentacle action during the day even if it's healthy. I feed spot feed mine when I feed the rest of my LPS about twice a week when my tank is dimming down for the night and the light is less intense.

Also, I would leave it on the sand. I am not vastly experienced or anything, but everything I've read and seen indicates they prefer to be on the sand bed and not in intense light.

Thank you all for your inputs. I think its bleached. I put it in a shade and it started to swell a little (very little). Still looks so bad but at least i can see the flesh instead of skeleton. However, the flesh closer to edges are tranparent/white in color. So it must be a bleaching issue. I think I will wait and see what will happen.

I have one that if I don't feed often, he wont open.
