How do you like it?.. Thats all that matters.. Looks good from here...seems to be enough caves/hideouts...a bit more variety may help so its not one consistent stacked mound look...
Another pic from an angle would be nice to be able to judge depth...

But again...your judgement is all that matters...

it's different from what i had before. (not sure if i like it; i can see what you're saying with the whole "œmound" thing) my LFS advises that i should maybe try going higher than i had previously had it. we were discussing better options to help get the flow right in the tank i'll include what i had before as well as more pics

I would suggest leaving a bit more space behind the rocks to allow for better overall circulation. As you have it, there will be very little flow behind the rocks which will create areas where detritus will accumulate and eventually lead to excess nutrient issues.

I'd also place the powerheads just a bit lower and then angle them up more to give better surface agitation and increase oxygenation .

I think varying heights and more defined caves would help. Your rock seems to all be of a similar size and shape, you can use that to create a cool structure. Should stack well

Tagging onto the 3 mounds suggestion... maybe making the 3 mounds with differing height will add variation to the scape. :)

thanks everyone i think i will try the 3 mounds idea and also further away from the back. next time i get in there it's harder than it looks! haha

Don’t forget to place the base rock directly on the glass (or egg rate etc). If they’re on top of the sand any burrowers can/will cause rock slides.
