I finally got the last of my dry rock for my JBJ 45 gallon tank. I ordered roughly around 50 pounds. I only used around 35-40 pounds of the rock. Do I really need a pound per gallon or can I get away with the amount that I have? Id love to hear your opinions on my scape and whether or not I left good coral placement options. Thanks in advance :)

Everyone has a different opinion on what looks best. Certainly yours looks nice. My wife is always moving our rocks around. Did you fasten it together? If not the next trick is to remember how fit the pieces together once you get in the tank. The one pound per gallon estimate is just that...and estimate. With porous rock it doesn't take all that much to get a good biological filter going. Did you clean the rock real good?

I like it. Swim throughs and nice use of space.

To get it into the tank looking something like how you have it, take lots of pictures from lots of angles as you take it apart to move it. That will make it easier to remember just how you had it.

All that really matters is if you like it, maybe your spouse if you have one. If it appeals to you, I think you should keep it.

For my 40 gallon tank I chose to go a different way and built a 3D background with few rocks on the bottom. That's what I like and since it's in my home I went with it. It was also against the advice of a lot of people who said it wouldn't work by the way. Don't let anyone discourage you, build it how ever you like.

What about mine ?
Sorry to post in your post but I don't want to create a new one.

Um... Lol hey how about trying that again and not just stacking the rocks on top of each other? Make holes here and there for fish to swim through. Also, you should have started your own thread. :/

It looks great to me. Just making sure there is proper coral placement.

Made that mistake. Lol. I took a photo but not any at different angles. I couldn't recreate it.
