Rod, I can't understand your post. Did the Coralvue shock you or the Sedra? I haven't had that happen. And, which won't compare to which? Do you prefer the Coralvue, or are you saying it's less expensive but works not quite as well?

I have a coralife 220 running and it wont compare to the others mentioned here.
the corallife skimmer shocked me with what ever crappy pump they use. I like the coralvue skimmer. the coralvue skimmer uses a sedra/oceanrunner, but has its own impellar design.
""What wont compare?... I have a corallife(some used to call them coraldeath) skimmer also. It works OK, but wont compare to the other needle wheels, or beckets that I use. I have fitted my corallife with a sedra needlewheel.
Don't laugh, but a Jebo 520 should do it. I've seen them on E-Bay for as low as $35. $67 with a POS 900ish gph pump (the pump is worth it for mixing and water changes. It reminds me of a RIO 2500). It is fine out of the box, but if you have the DIY Jones like me you can add a small Beckett and a ball valve. I know others that have modified it for a needle wheel. Jebo rates it for 500 gal but that is a joke.
This is running on the 210 easy reef in my office. I get plenty of dry skimmate.
Oh, 1 minor issue. It is metric. At a minimum you will need to modify the inlet to accept 1" slip. It's just a little extra PVC glue and letting it dry overnight. No biggie, but be aware.
Rod -
Took some searching but found a site selling the Octopus Needlewheel 200 for $190. Says "Includes 475 gph needle wheel pump". If so, and this works well, this seems like the best value out there. I'm looking for a pump/skimmer for a soon to be 135g tank. Would this be big enough? Seems like it would be.
Is this in sump or external or either way? I am a newbie so sorry if this is a dumb question.
Any idea why the resellers off the coralvue site do not seem to carry these anymore (unless I was not smart enough to find them at those sites)?
jdhanover...I have seen the coralvues in action and can attest to it. Works well for the money. I use a G3 myself, however, I may have purchased the coralvue instead if I had known of it. I am picking one up tonight for my fathers new tank from Rod. He sells the Coralvue skimmer and can compete I believe with the online prices you have seen. Give him a call. I know he will have a brand new one on the shelf this evening. Larger one. Forgot the model# sorry. The size similar to the G3.
