Optimized Beckett

I used an aqua mend epoxy boca rat. I got it at Lowes.
Bax, I use a marlin to drive my skimmer. I doubt anything smaller would run such a large skimmer.

Thx, I just ordered two becketts from eBay, $15 shipped, so that'll give me something to play with. Thanks for all the tips.

mr2 with dual injectors

mr2 with dual injectors

I have gotten through about half of this thread and am pretty convinced I am going to do this mod. I just purchased a used mr2 skimmer that has 2 injectors. It didnt come with any pump and I was wondering if anyone had a pump recommendation. I have thought about using 2 pumps. Looking at different specs it looks as if I can run 2 internal pumps and get more gph with less wattage usage especially with this modification. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jeff

After messing with several becketts and comparing performance with needle wheels I have to say that the needle wheel wins hands down.

I got so tired of cleaning junk out of the beckett I finally just pulled it out and put a needle wheel to recirculate the water and have never looked back. Lots of great dry foam and very little upkeep.

Hi Rod!,
Which NW did you end up using?

I just got a Sicce NW from Coralvue and am unimpressed. People rave about the Sicces, but it must be a different NW impeller, throat, etc because I'm just not seeing it.

Cuby2k:
I think most here will agree that NW skimmers are very efficient - up to a point.
But they are more effective on smaller applications than on big ones.
The only large ones are being driven by a Reeflo pump, which is modded. And that is not as large an appplication as most Beckett driven skimmers I use. So now we are back to normal amp draw for the the given size. Additionally, I am not aware of any HUGE skimmers that use NW....why?
Lastly - I know this is a Beckett based thread - do sorry for the off-topic input.
BTW - I have both Becketts, and NW skimmers. I like them both for different reasons.
Thanks,
T

quiteone pump?

quiteone pump?

Just wondering if anyone has ever used a quiteone 4000hh pump for a single becket? It is rated at 980 gph and I like the fact that I wouldnt have to have an external pump with my skimmer internal in my sump.
Thanks
Jeff
