Option 1 or Option 2

I would still go with option 1 bigger for the same price and the 4" extra depth won't hurt light penetration it is not that deep to begin with and it will give your coral more vertical growing room.

Just my opinion.

I know how it is having the OM without being able to use them, I have two of them, and other than hooking them up in a ghettorific way (which I later took down) never used them again, periodically I check them out and make sure they still work however.

As to the skimmer I wouldn't bother getting a red dragon pump to try to increase the output, get a skimmer that'll be rated for you tank (keeping in mind the heavy bioload) and stick with that. If you're worried about money, you can get Octopus Extreme skimmers fairly cheap, and they're basically bubblemaster clones IIRC.

Number one option is better. You will have options in oversizing your circulations pumps and also not to worry about overflowing your tank.Having two overflows is better no doubts about that.
I'm not a fan of the close loop club.Had too many troubles with that set-up.
Hopefully you'll make a smart decision.

I agree with this as well. NOT a fan of closed loops at all. I think the extra overflow and extra water volume trump the third option.

If you are so up in the air as to choices, why not just start from scratch, decide what you want, where you want it and what you want to do with it, then have it built to your exact specifications. You would be better served in the end.

I think the prices I've been given are because these tanks are sitting on the floor.

The tank I really want is a Marinland Deep Dimension 300Gallon 72x36x27 but have only been able to get one quote locally for double what option 1 & 3 are.

Buy what you want, When your already spending 2grand on the tank its crazy to settle cause of a few hundred bucks, IMO. Out of the 3 you posted,,, well Non. You want starphire glass, You should my last 2 tanks have had it and I'll never buy one with out it. Problem is out of the three you posted the only one with starphire makes no sense for where the tank is going.. Plus with the added cost of it you could easily get the right tank shipped to you. I think 20H for such a large tank is just to shallow, But that really comes down to what you want. I like 24-25" range myself. The Marinland Deep was a little to tall for my taste. My current tank is 72x36x25 with Two external overflows, Euro bracing and starphire on the front and sides. For me its perfect.. Tall enough to look good but short enough that I can reach all the way in the back/bottom of the tank without having to take my shirt off.. If you can I'd get a tank with Euro bracing and NO crossbracing. You never know where your going to want to put lights down the road.. Just cause you start out with 3 Mh fixtures doesn't mean thats what you will use later.. I've got solar tubes, MH and T5s over my tank.. If I had Crossbraces they would just be in the way..

i swear i seen a used marineland 300 on craigslist in az a couple weeks ago or on ebay. cant remember though. sorry. i'll see if i can find it again.

I ended up not going with option 1,2 or 3

I found a new option and bought it the same day.

It's built by LeMar the same as option 1, just a little smaller 84L X 28W X 24H (244 Gallon) The cost was $1000, I think I got a pretty good deal.

Here it is waiting in the garage, I have some tiling to finish before I can move it in to its final resting place.

Was that a used tank? Or is that the going rate of LeMar tanks now? Because it looks so clean that I can only assume its new.

Looks pretty good. Very cheap price for the size tank you got. You will probably end up wishing you had got one with Starphire glass like you wanted though.

Glad you finally found one you like, now you can get it up and running. I finally ordered a 280g 3 sided starphire going to be a peninsular from glasscages, ended up about $1000 cheaper than the marineland tank.

Brand Spanking New

New FROM LeMar? Or someone was trying to get rid of it for a super cheap price.

Sorry, I'm in the market for a large tank, but don't know what the "norm" is for tank prices, once you get beyond a certain size the price can vary greatly from MFG to MFG.

New from a LFS in Tempe, Arizona

It was a package deal Tank and Black Oak Stand for $1500
or you could buy them separate
Tank for $1000 and Stand for $1000

The stand was VERY good but my wife just didn't like it. I know what battles to fight and which ones not to, so I just got the tank.

Wow, not a bad pickup at all.

I just wish some of the LFS would do some deals like that, I've seen 120g oceanic tech tanks for over $1000 (not that I want something that small), and can't even get the Marineland tanks due to Central Pet being major douchebags and refusing to sell them.
