ORA Brown Planet

Thanks Kurt, I'll probably post a new pic every week or so. This is all pretty exciting to me, especially since just 5 or 6 months ago I didn't even know what a zoa was and now I have this amazing coral in my tank and it's doing well! For some reason I never thought I would be able to keep acros.

Wow, looks like it's coloring up well. I have a red planet as well. Actually, now it's a white planet with pink polyps LOL, totally bleached it first week in the tank. I didn't realize they were lower light SPS. I'll have to move it tomorrow.

I don't think that's a rp honestly almost looks like blue polyps. I used to have green on mine but it has always had white polyps.

I have a frag and was told it was a red planet. What do you think? It has been in my tank for about 3 months. It has been under 5 54W T5 until 15 days ago that I have 2 T5 replaced by DIY LEDs. It has a bit more red in real life.

Good looking frag, how is it doing since you added the LEDs?

Yes this is one of my most favorite frags in my tank. My photo taking skill is not good, does not show its real colors.
I have 24 3W Cree leds (12 cool whites and 12 royal blue) and I am still ramping up the intensity. I have seen some improvement in growth but not too much in color. Maybe it is still too early to tell. I definitely like the shimmering effect. To help out the color, I may change one of the T5 Blue Plus bulbs to Purple Plus.

Thanks for the replies! To me it looks like it is growing in the same pattern as RP's I've seen pictures of, and the guy who gave it to me would really have had no motive for lying (since it was free). But time will tell and we will eventually know as it grows out.

Anyways, it's only been a few days since the last picture, and I was going to wait a week. But the pink is coming in a lot more already and it's quite iridescent too, so I thought I'd go ahead and throw up a new pic today.

nice! I can see the red in the picture now so you defiantly got some new growth. It looks really happy in your system. Can't wait the see the growth shots in the future.

Thanks! It's been about a week, so here is another pic in case anyone is interested. Getting a lot more red color overall. Not sure if this is fast or slow or average recovery, but it's pretty exciting to me anyways. Thanks for looking!
