ORA Derasa clams: Are they any better? ($45 3" good price).

As some may know I have to buy everything for this saltwater addiction 150 miles away from where I will. Tomorrow I will be driving to San Antonio and will stop by at Fin-Addicts. The store owner said he bought a ORA Derasa clam which is 3" and says he is selling it for $45. Is this a good price, and is ORA any better than other distributors?

the price seems fair.

dont worry about what company cultured it, just make sure its healthy, reacts well to shadows(pass your hand under the light), shows good mantle extension and has good color

whats this passes your hand over to shadow it about??? what would reacting well be?

if you pass your hand under the light it will create a shadow on the clam, if the clam is healthy it should retract its mantle quickly and maybe even close its shell. that is the reaction you want.
