ORA Micronesian mauve

I noticed the ORA Micronesian mauve on divers den tonight. I'm assuming it's another new release. I haven't been able to find much on it.

The one I got looks like the Garf Grunge. The ORA version is not as deep purple but does have the greenish/yellow polyps. Pretty nice frag overall, fully encrusted.

kind of looks like a chunkier, darker hawkins. i like it - only if I had endless money and a huge tank ;)

it's hard to say how it'll look as it gets bigger but at $40, the price is right.

I think that's the cheapest ORA new release I've seen go up on DD...

I don't think it's anything special . . .

Saw a few in person a few weeks back. Looks like it might have some potential. Similar to a hawkins with a somewhat tort like growth pattern, but thinner branching. That probably makes no sense :lolspin: ;)

on a different note.. should not people expect better and more realistic pictures from high
end online dealers of coral? when the shadow is blue, the white bottom area totally washed
out, etc... i have to question if they take pics that are not being truthful to what it looks
like in hand?

i am sure enough people here have ordered from them to explain that i can very well
be wrong.. but if i was taking pics that would be unacceptable to me.

I'm no camera expert by any means, but at least IME, I often get weird looking backgrounds (especially bright white sand or super dark shadowns) even though the subject is accurate, especially if my blue LED's are on.

Went to my local fish store and checked it out. They had three pieces that were brown and absolutely no polyp extension. The guys that work there are just praying that it colors up so they can move it.

Are they photoshopping there pictures? When I have ordered FandS-DD in the past the corals seams to come in lighter and less colorful, but have always colored back up. Thought it was shipping stress. Are there any Photoshop people that can tell us what to look for, how do we tell if a photo is manipulated?

I actually just picked up the mauve. Even though it does look very bland, right now. I wanted to see what it does. It's growth form is nice. Just wanted to see what it does as far as color. Will keep you updated.

Whatever happened with the color? I picked mine up about 3 weeks ago, and it's still not looking that great. The acro crab is cool tho...
