ORA Seahorses?

I noticed on ORA's website they say that they raise their seahorses in water that is 75 to 85 degrees. Is this correct? Are they kept at these temperatures for sustained periods of times? Are the horses better adjusted to warmer temps? Anyone know?

There are posts on the "org" that mention ORG doesn't breed many seahorses of their own anymore. Mostly they sell what they are buying elsewhere it appears.
Higher temperatures in flow through systems are possible because there isn't the contained bacteria to be concerned about.
The main problem therefore, is, who sufficiently treats and filters the ocean water for pathogens before it goes into their systems. It's so hard to find out when the seller has purchased elsewhere.

I have a pair of ORA Reidi and they are very healthy and happy. That said I keep them at room temp 70-73. No problems with parasites or pathogens.

I find it somewhat misleading when they infer from their website that all of their seahorses are kept at temps above 74 degrees, which seems to be the upper limit of most recommendations. Ugh. Not a hardier horse it doesn't sound like, but rather, creative marketing?

Ocean Rider suggest the same
"Temperature range: 68F "“82F, optimum temperature 75- 78F"

I guess having on demand access to water from the ocean helps. I think the main problem is we are working in a closed system.

Unfortunately, I think it's salesmanship. If they would list 68*F - 74*F (which is the "correct" temp range for tropical SH sp.), they'd lose out on all the sales to folks who add SH to existing warmer setups and the sumps connected to them. The folks who recommend the proper temps usually have nothing to gain by doing so.

The other thing is that these facilities typically turn their stock over before any problems develop (assuming they're kept too warm in the first place), nor will they mention any heat-related deaths to the public.
