ORA Sps Frags

anyone else notice slow growth on the granulosa

The slowest growing coral in my entire system! If that guy says the red planet and phils are in a "growth" competition. The red planet will win!!! And I would like to know how he is getting fast enough growth on the Phils to consider any kinda race! I have never had anyone claim even moderate growth from old Phil. I can't tell mine has grown a millimeter without a photo diary. JMO

yea same here.the branches are thicker then 6 months ago but hardly any verticle growth at all.it encrusted a small amout more then when i got it but still does not cover the plug.

I can email pics of my granulosa and red planet--the planet's faster, but they were noth "nubs" when I got them on the ORA plugs. ONLY TWO MONTHS IN THE NEW TANK--set up on 10/17; corals and fish in on 10/22.

My granulosa only had say 2-3 extensions on the front of the plug and now those have branhes along with 3 more on the back. The polyps on them are out all day and HUGE at night---just like the RP.

They are both under a 250w 14k Hikari Arcadia light. Both have grown halfway down the plug too.

:)

thats good news, that sounds like nice growth for a such a young tank..mine may just be in that stagnant stage and will eventually grow.i hear people say the ora blue tort is a slow grower also but for me it grew pretty fast once it settled in.

Could people post their experience with growth rates of the various ORA corals?

Here is what I've gathered from this thread so far...

Fast or "decent" growth:
Blue milli
Pearl Berry
Bellina
Red Planet

Slow growth:
Phils granulosa

It might also be helpful if people could post general comments about what kind of lighting their frag is getting (high or low intesity, MHs vs T5s, etc.), and flow, etc..

Here's some my ORA collection.

Great pics MBZ and nice corals!

I'm not trying to hijack the thread so I hope this question is of general interest. I am having trouble keeping the color in my ORA birdsnest. How is yours placed relative to your lighting and flow?

Great thread. Here are macro shots of my ORA beauties.

some more amazing macros. Great job by everyone.

Most of you have already done so, but if there are any hobbyists that have not contributed their photos to http://www.oracorals.com please do so through the site. LMK if you have any questions.

thanks guys. I still have about 10 photos I have not added. Hopefully I'll get to them tomorrow. Any thoughts on something else you would like to see on the site?

Some really nice close ups a few posts back!

Here's a frag of ORA Scripps Pink Mille I bought at a meet a couple days ago. It was under PCs and not very pink, looking forward to it coloring up under my halides.
