Orange Cap die off

I have had three separate colonies die off. Last night the largest one was fine, tonight it has completely bleached out. This is the third one in a month or so. Have not tested water prams yet but everything else is still looking fine in the tank. Any ideas what could be the problem? The last one to die was looking pretty good. I have one last frag that is orange, green and purple that I bought at last years frag swap and do not want to loose it. Any help would be appreciated. Paul

Take a good look at your alk it is probably very low which would also add to a low ph. If caps are changing from good to dead in one day I would suspect that first.

If you dont have good test kits I would start with a larger water change.

Good Luck.

definately check the pH and alk as suggested.
Also have you added any monti's recently. I lost a VERY LARGE monti cap to MEN (Monti Eating Nudi) In a matter of a day over half was dead, and in a couple days the entire thing was gone

Do you have any pics of it? Take the dead pieces out and let them slime up....if there is any MEN when it slimes you will be able to see them better (at least I was able to)
