Orange Fungia Plate coral lighting

Hello to you all! I was just wondering if I could keep an orange fungia plate coral otherwise known as cycloseris tenuis. Water flow in my 40 breeder is not a problem as I have 1800 gph(a aqueon 500 and a maxi jet 1200). I am worried about lighting. my tank is 16 inches deep and I have a T5HO fixture that has 2 bulbs in it. each bulb is 39 watts. So in total, it put 78 watts over my tank which is about 2 watts per gallon of T5HO. Any help is highly appreciated

It may survive but I don't think it will thrive.

If possible I would add some more light to get closer to 3-4w a gallon.

Best of luck.

I would say 4 bulb. I nave mine on the sand bed of a standard 55 and it does great. Ati bulbs for what it's worth. But to my understanding they arent very demanding of light. What else do you have in the tank.

2 bulbs should be okay providing you switch them out every 8-12 months and use a reputable brand's bulbs. It may grow faster or have a bit more polyp extension with more light depending on the species but it should be a safe bet that all aforementioned guidelines as well as placement somewhere in the middle of your tank on the sandbed should be okay.. along with regular waterchanges.

I have various zoas,a tennis ball size colt coral, gsp colony starting to take off, a feather duster, 2 green reef chromis, occelaris clownfish, a blue velvet damsel, a yellow tang, and a lawnmower Blenny. Soon I will be getting a Duncan coral, a branching frogspawn, a sun coral, a bubble coral, and several black onyx nassarius snails and cerith snails. I have ample flow and have a skimmer as well. Thank you!
