well i bought my first sps lasty night. i am worried about it, as my parents wouldnt let me acclimate it due to have to go to the hospital to see my grandma. so my question is, is this pretty much doomed to die. it is under 4 39 watt t-5 lighting in my 29 mixed reef . heres a pic how healthy does it look, and anhything i can do to help it???

SORRY ABOUT PHOTO QUALITY, BUT WHEN YOUR 14 AND HAVE A REEF TANK, MONEY SOME HOW DISAPEARS:p

Hard to tell from pic but give it time to acclimate. Keep water quality stable and check for polyp extention. Next time buy a frag when you know you have time to do it right. Hope your grandma is alright.

It should be fine. I only temp acclimate mine. I've never had an issue. I take it out of the water for about 60 seconds and then place it directly in the tank. The slime layer it produces will self acclimate it anyhow.

Good luck

I would make sure that the bleaching does not spread any further. If it does I would consider fragging it and saving the healthy pieces. Montipora's are usually extremely hardy corals, so as long as you supply the coral with proper water quality and circulation, it should be fine.
