orange ricordia deal - donavons reef

Okay here's the pics of mine from tonight

They are looking a little orange but its the flash\actinics messing it up. The one on the left is very in tact, the one on the right had a part of the polyp torn from it, I believe this will develop into another one. You can just barely make out the tiny baby that is now partially covered by the mom on the extreme right

here they areon the right next to my gold yuma before the whiter lights shut off

Rics IMO are like mushrooms. Really tough to kill. Are you sure that you don't have a pest? I honestly can't see how they would disappear that quickly. It is also possible that maybe too much flow was on them and they detached. I don't think floating them was too long. Many retailers and people ship ricordia priority express with no issues.

Sorry about that though.

The temp shock thing could be an option, if they were sitting directly in the sunlight. It wasnt even hot enough yesterday to cook them if they were sitting in the shade. Im so sorry. I really Donavan can help with replacing them :(

I think you hit the nail with the heat issue. The water was very warm when my wife opened the box.
It must have sat on my doorstep for a couple of hours.
This was a learning lesson. I will be sure to be home for any future purchases.
I am on the hunt for some orange and some blue rics, so I will keep you guy's posted when I find some. I am looking to do a local pickup, because this lesson shrunk the wallet a bit too much.

I guess the heat would be possible. That does stink though but it's amazing they died so quick. Yea when I get corals, I'm there as they show up.

That's what kills me, they looked like they would be OK, just a little stressed from shipping. I get home from work, and they were just gone, for a lack of a better word.
I am normally home to receive everything I have delivered, but I could not be here due to an emergency call I had to catch. Next time, no matter what, I will be here when they arrive.
I have noticed my foxface picking at the strands of ric that are still on the rock. He seems to be pulling them off. I wonder if he could have had a role in this? Or if he knows they are dying, and justy trying to get rid of them. He has been known to "clean up" any zoas that didn't look good.

I am so so sorry, any word from donavon?

I'm not sure if it helps but my foxface doesn't nip at any of my mushrooms.. Sometimes he'll dive in looking for a pellet that may have landed on them but doesn't actually eat the mush itself.

Its possible he's found decaying mess.. messan.. white stringy gut stuff and it might taste good to him?

Just my .02, I heard DHL is a terrible company to ship anything with. Let alone something live. Sorry for your misfortune, were they insured in shipping at all?

I got a reply back from him, and he is going to work something out with me. Stand up guy in my books.
Just to remind everyone, this package was very well packed, and this more than likely was a heat issue. Not the sellers fault, but he is helping me out, ALOT, with this deal.

Thats wonderful that he is going to help you out! That says alot about him and the business does. Its no wonder he has so many repeat customers. Congrats, that is good news :)

That's great news. Are you guys still in? If so, I will forward the pics he is send me tomorrow. That way, we can agree on what to get.
