orange sponge growth?

I picked up a orange sponge its about 16 inches long and has a base with theree branches. I don't know all the details of name etc i'm sure its common. i have had it for about 5 days and the mid section has some white growth it almost looks like sea squirts but their not tear drop shaped. I'll try to get pics, params are good. anyone have anyideas off the top of their heads? thanks.

possible die off? sorry but most sponges do not last long espeically when recently moved from one tank to another

Just to be sure your feeding at least one kind of micro algae? Like every 4 hours?
