orange spot filefish twitching under bright light

Hi,

I observed that my orange spot filefish will start twitching and hitting herself against the wall when I turned on all 4 39W lamps of my T5 fixture. However, when I turned on just two 39W lamps (420/260 lamps), she behaved normally. She has adapted eating frozen food and dry flakes in my tank, and she is eating well and looking healthy. Anyone has idea on what it might be causing this twitching behavior ? Does orange spot filefish known to prefer low or blue light environment? or does she just need more time to gradually adjust to the brighter light?

I just want to make sure she continues to do well in my tank, so any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We could catch orange spot filefish on a snorkel in less than 2m of water, so it's not bright light that is bothering it.
Check the condition of your globes and fixtures.

it sounds like the full lighting is creating a reflection somehow, and she may be seeing "another fish".

IMHO, OSFF's are a fish that really need to be catered to. ours is in a low-light species setup.

How long have you had this fish? Do you know if it is male or female?

I've had mine for six months now, and it has no problem under high light.

I agree with namxas. The light may be causing a reflection. My male will sometimes show aggression towards his reflection depending on his mood.

I've had this fish for about 3 weeks now. My friend had it for about a month, and he gave it to me. It's female. Thanks for the inputs. Hmm... Okay, looks like it should be fine under bright light. Hopefully, it will adjust to the light eventually.
